It's the most simple explanation. He was drunk, he was freezing, went to sleep inside a bin, then crushed to death. This happens a lot. It is sad, but C clearly had a drinking problem, and drunk people do stupid things, and end up dead.

Just do a quick search "man dies inside a garbage bin" there are a lot of examples of drunk people doing this, you will be amazed. I think it's fairly possible that C died like this, he did a lot of drinking that night. It seems irrational if you think about it but drunk people don't think...
