Whether the person who knows is still alive, though...
Therese seemed to believe Jean and Dozier. I'm not sure why, but of anyone she should know. To me, they were both up to no good in other ways, that's well established, and where there's smoke there's fire. They're both long gone.
If anything this case disproves the old adage that I've always felt has hindered a lot of cases: "More then one person can't keep a secret."
They most certainly can, especially when it comes to protecting their own lives/livelihood.
I was looking at the numerous old news reports of the many crimes he did prior to 1981 that should have kept off the streets (but didn't) and, as was standard then, his then-current address is listed. It's two minutes away from where Christine disappeared.
Also, he was in court for one of these...
Out of nowhere a blue back pack.
I hope the money lures some useful info out. He just sounds like someone who has the money to throw at the wall in the hopes that he can say "I solved this one!" Was the back pack info known to those inside all of this time and he paid to be able to dangle it?
He very much lives by the "if you're not a real detective you don't know anything and your opinion doesn't matter" mindset so I can't imagine he's too well liked around here.
If the cement porch is really a factor it wouldn't cost much to throw some money at the current owners and say "Hey, we'll pay for repairs if we do a little search here."
