Thanks for the welcome Knox. I've been trying to get caught up on all the posts. I'm not so sure that the neighbor actually heard Nancy's voice, but a female voice which could have been someone else, or even if what he heard came directly from Nancy's house, but it does bring up new questions...

If she was like me, as soon as I get home from work, I kick my shoes off, change my clothes and put on slippers, so she could have done the same & been wearing slippers or other comfortable shoes. The weather that weekend was very cold/freezing, even had a scattering of snow.
