He was here (I live in Provincetown) a few weeks ago to put a headstone on his mother’s grave. It was a private event which included a few people who’d been part of the investigation, like the detectives. The only reason I knew about it was from someone involved.

It’s actually a fairly usual urban high end backpack that would not be unusual in NYC. But it’s funny, I noticed it right away and so did one of my friends, and we thought “this shooter has money!”.

There have been some recent articles in the NYT and other places about the rash of drugging and robberies of gay men, mostly happening in bars - I wonder if that is a reason that not much info is being released? Maybe the police are investigating something/someone and are not releasing details...

He must have been confounded when the LE (who obviously had evidence of exactly what kind of knife it was) played “dumb” by putting out info, over time, that they weren’t exactly certain what kind of “edged weapon” is was.
