With a PAL (possession and acquisition licence) which any 18 year old with adult priors can fairly easily get you can by either at gun selling places in Canada. In the US walmart only sells guns with full federal 4473 background process, but will sell ammo to any adult. That is walmarts minimum...

Any type of gun would have sufficed. Canadians have every right to restrict handguns, but in this crime canada's gun laws would not have blocked or impeded the murders since they could have been done with any kind of gun. and getting one in Canada is very easy relative to the almost the entire...

Sure that is possible, but that is much more rare. None of us know but I am just going along the criminal justice data on ranking types of murders.

I lived in Canada for a few years with work. And 18 year old without a criminal record can buy high powered rifles, semi auto riffles etc legally fairly quick and easily. process takes a mater of weeks in waiting period but not hard at all. The main difference in canada is handguns

Actually where they are in Canada has higher homicide rates than large parts of the US. And the gun homicide rate in the US is not "50x higher." And why are you making it about guns? I am quoting overall homicide rate. What is the point of the red herring? withing the murder rates the type sof...

Coroner/ME work is a process. From the first arrival at the scene to the final determination the coroners could/would informally be telling thee best educated guesses to law enforcement to help with initial investigation, possible identification of killers, time of death, means and manner, eg...

Yes everything we have seen so far is consistent with a botched robbery homicide, leading to other homicide while on the run. Anything is possible but it is best to apply Occam, and when it comes to being killed by a stranger, robbery homicide is a much, much, higher probability than cult, or...

If you notice the tires, dashboard, rear light fixtures are all totally gone as well.

These are deerate guys, commuting from what we have seen so far, an all to common standard criminal scenario of robbery of opportunity, it going bad resulting in robbery-homicide. Some of their subsequent actions will be rational and some will not be, because they are desperate and probably not...

Agree. They don't seem posed. More like ordered to laying the ditch and executed

That is a good possibility. These killings follow general common crime of opportunity robbery with homicide MO. Some of it is clearly impulsive, they could know enough about basic police procedure to have backtracked intentionally, but I think a lot of the irrationality after is probably based...

Agreed -- if traveling. Passenger trains are up there but freight trains less so. But not so difficult to do a home invasion and steal a car that could take longer to detect, or if they were smart (they don't seem to bright), hole up in house. long term their only hope would be getting...

I don't know about that. Some of the the evidence flags (most likely for the reported six or seven spent casings) are right there in the photos beneath the back door of the van, so I tend to think that is where LE found it initially. Bodies apparently were in that rock lined drainage ditch...

Agree 100%. It is possible they could have gotten a few hundred bucks cash from their victims or even (less likely) used a stolen debit card. Lots of people have been killed for less money. The older guy may have carried some cash out of habit. But I bet they don't have much cash and only think...

Gun ownership where they are is extremely common and an 18 year old can buy a semi auto rifle (for example of the type Breivik used to kill 69 people) where they are with no stated reason. In fact it is not even restricted list. Essentially if you don't have a serious adult criminal record you...
