Does this judge not have a clerk present? She is swearing in witnesses and typing up a storm I am assuming admitting evidence during testimony of witnesses? The court's website indicates she does have a bench clerk, Brenda. Does this courtroom not have a court reporter either? I haven't seen...
Ty for the updates! I am a day behind, I don't have twitter/X. Is there a file somewhere other than twitter to view all the crime scene photos/videos/evidence admitted thus far?
Jury unanimously finds that TS did NOT suffer from mental defect during the crimes. Defendant doesn't really have a reaction.
ETA: Judge entered sentencing date as September 26th 9:30 am CT
I do feel she has mental illness, but it is not the cause of the murder. She does need intensive psychological help that sadly she will not get.
I feel she should be held responsible and given LWOP. I believe because she was under the influence of quite an impresssive amount of meth, stated...
I have c/p the relevant part to answer your question and linked the statute to answer the others. Hope that helps!
Felonies committed on or after July 30, 2002. Except as provided in par. (c), when a defendant is found not guilty by reason of mental disease or mental defect of a felony...
The prosecution and their witness, Dr. Seipel, are showing the defendant much more respect and compassion than her own attorney and witness did when discussing her mental health history. This witness is also doing a good job of impeaching Dr. Lytton's testimony as well.
I am confused. Did she not do her own evaluation using the DSM-5 to find her own diagnosis of the defendant? Surely that could help the jury understand her mental health better and also to be able to determine if there is any malingering behavior.
I am finding out better information during...
Her manner of speaking is off-putting and the faces she makes while describing the behavior of the defendant is rather disrespectful imho. I would prefer if she would just keep to clinical observations and not judgy condecending ones.
As he was being removed by the baliff's in front of her table. She said "I love you" he responded in turn. Then she said "Go Bears" and he responded something I couldn't make out and she responded back. But I couldn't make that out either. It was a sweet but sad interaction imho.
I agree. His questioning is just awful. No acknowledgement or sympathy of his son's death. He could have asked what behaviors TD was exhibiting for her father to take her to a psych hospital.
And what is with the speaking objections?? Judge id helping with the questioning?!
It seems defense is calling just two witnesses - the psychologist Dr. Litten (sp?) And TS's father so in my opinion the jury will have the case by this afternoon.
After seeing what seems to be defense attny CF preparing his opening statement in court this AM, I am not hopeful that he put forth much effort into the 2nd phase either. The jury should at least know about her mental health history, family upbringing, any other episodes throughout her life etc...
I'm woth you...Probably before or by noon tomorrow.
Did the judge say how long the jury would go tonight? He sped through everything I missed it if he said it.
The defense attorney. He basically read from his notes and peppered in some statements about this case being confusing and puzzling and other odd disjointed statements as to why the defendant should be found not guilty on all counts.
