I've asked around a little bit, but haven't really sought out if she would have been able to park directly in front of the dorm, but in any case, I still think that this is unlikely, because she almost certainly would have had to put her car back in Lot 12 by morning. If she were going to...

Getting caught up with this thread and noticed your post. A year or so ago, when getting interested in this case, I did a walking/driving test at UMass to piece together a timeline of the potential for Maura being involved in the Vasi hit-and-run. Looking back, I think that my...

Do police ever give misinformation so that witnesses/informants/confessing criminals can identify themselves as "real," or is this just a movie/tv thing?

You're right, a cell phone isn't good light for running. It's decent for walking, though or reading signs as McSpy suggested. How long would Maura have been running before she started walking again? We can only guess, but I don't think it would be very long, unless she was being chased or had...

She also had her phone. If it was charged, it would provide her light for some time. A phone isn't as good as a flashlight, but it's better than pitch darkness. Do they do survival training at West Point? If they do, would Maura have received that training during her time there, or do...

We don't know how accurate the neighbor, Rick's description was when he supposedly saw her running, but I don't think he mentioned a flashlight.

It was Sprint. I can confirm, because that came up when I was searching for the phone to buy when I tested the "red light." (Pictures earlier this thread.)

Yeah, some really interesting stuff. If we go with the theory of it having to be someone there that night, he's definitely the most suspicious out of what we could call "known characters." I'm not ready to put Maura's disappearance on him yet, but I don't know why the Renner blog is so quick...

I've forgotten quite a bit about this case already - what became of the guy who, sometime after the accident, came forward as having seen someone fitting Maura's description running down the road that night? AFAIK, the rest of the homeowners in that area made statements to the police that...

I agree with pretty much all of this. I highly doubt her father had anything to do with her disappearance, primarily because he continued to search for her in NH for years after the accident. To do so and be the person responsible would take a special kind of psychopath that I just don't...

I forget the exact times, but in an earlier post I detailed my experience taking a walk from the dorm Maura was in, to her assigned parking lot, driving to the scene of the accident, and coming back. It was much longer than 2 minutes each way.

I'm not trying to insinuate a conspiracy theory, just that while you, me, or the police, might see a room with everything in boxes and think "packed to leave," that it's entirely plausible to draw another conclusion, "not yet unpacked." I don't think that we have the info to support either...

The family does appear to be not entirely forthcoming, though I'm not sure how much of this appearance is the result nearly a decade of over-analyzing what little information we, the public, have been given. My point about the dorm room is that, as I've posted before, I don't think it's...

I just wanted to comment quickly on this idea. Wi-fi wasn't as ubiquitous back then. I'm not even sure if, from my recollection, free in-room wired connections were common. A laptop in a motel in the middle of the woods (seemingly where she was aiming to go) would have been of marginal...
