You have kinda hit the nail on the head for me. Also, how many times do we hear of someone trying to hire a hitman only to have that person go straight to the cops? The hirer ends up pitching the hit scheme to an undercover officer. How often, even in mob hits, did they pull it off flawlessly...

NY Queens, NY 1973 stabbing murder of Madelyn DeFilippi

Just thinking. The mailman theory may not be far off. I don't think that the person who did this went with the specific intent to murder. It seems like a bottle would be a weapon found on scene or in the immediate vicinity. My first thought is that someone close by that saw an opportunity to...

There seems to be some contention on whether the device was readily available. "Original trackers devices were not so smart and easy to use. Mostly it’s caused by not that much developed technologies. Before 2006 in the USA in most cases only police could afford to use tracking devices, and...

I still go back to availability of tracking equipment. Maybe something was "commercially" available however, that doesn't mean any joe schmo off the street could get it / afford it. Law enforcement, military, private/corporate security, but some dude that wanted to follow his wife around...

I know about the Low-Jack and I guess in 2005 tracking cell phones was possible for Law Enforcement. I seems that all of the individual components may have been in place but it does not seem that the average joe would be able to track someone like they could today. I agree that someone would...

I still am on board with the "in the water" theory. Just looking into the subject shows that many vehicles end up there one way or another. I also know from experience how difficult it is to find objects underwater, how quickly an object may become lost and completely silted over.

My question would be; How available were "tracking devices" in 2005. In todays world one may track a cell phone through GPS etc. or an Air Tag (?). But I wonder if, in 2005, would that have been possible? One may see movies or hear stories about tracking devices place on vehicles, but could you...

PA - Ellen Greenberg, 27, Philly teacher’s brutal stabbing, ruled suicide but possible homicide, Jan 2011

Interesting points. I wonder about the bruising. I believe that it is all in the medical examiners report. I also wonder if the bruising could have been a result of teaching younger children. My wife deals with younger and special needs children and just the other day she was bitten requiring a...

Yes. the locked door is a puzzler ( If it was truly locked). I do agree that EG locking the door amounts to someone performing a logical and coherent action while in the midst of a totally illogical and not reasonable episode. Seems like it would have required a moment of clarity that does not...

PA - Ellen Greenberg, 27, Philly teacher’s brutal stabbing, ruled suicide but possible homicide, Jan 2011

I just finished the Detective Perspective podcast and listened to the interview with Dr. Banerjee. I agree that it was done well and very informative. I have heard nothing that remotely supports suicide although this is a weird case to try to explain. Reason being, I haven't really heard much...

TX - Shots fired, injuries reported at ICE facility in Dallas - Sept 24, 2025

I think one issue many people have in these situations is the urge to try to find logical reasoning in totally illogical actions. I.e. if the shooter was anti ICE, why did he seemingly target the detainees? That is a logical question. However, an illogical mind may not have reached the same...

NC - Iryna Zarutska, 23, slain on Commuter Rail Line, Charlotte - Some Content may be Graphic - Aug 22, 2025 *Arrest*

I am not buying the mental illness argument. Certainly there is some level of mental illness and it played a factor. I think there has to be some level of that illness in most crimes where one human being took the life of another but, as in most cases, he knew exactly what he was doing. It is...

NJ NJ - William Jamison, 33, Linden, 27 March 1981

I just finished the three episodes of BIll Jamison's case as it was just republished on the podcast. I am relieved that I am not the only one that thought Mr. Walter's "profile" was complete horse manure. By his own admission even the family did not know much about WJs personal life and having...

NJ NJ- Christopher Thomas, 16, Honor Student, Randomly Shot by Stranger w. 'Rocky H P Show Makeup', Rockaway Townsquare Mall, 1 Oct '82, *New Initiative*

Soon to be 43 years. There was a mention of a new initiative and testing of items from the scene using new technology not available in 1982. That would lead me to believe that they are trying to test potential DNA samples. If so, I wonder if they have had any success creating a profile.

MN- Minneapolis, mass shooting at church, multiple fatalities, possible explosive device found. Aug 2025

“I know we have not been successful in talking to the shooter’s mother yet at this time,” O’Hara said. “But there continue to be efforts made to get that done.” This is concerning.
