Two men charged!!!
From the outside, looks like police were able to catch up with the two guys who did the attack 2 days before. I remember watching an old Crimewatch reconstruction of this one, pretty senseless crime.
Affluent areas with poor lighting? Hambalt Road is dark as heck in places, same with Abbeville. I hate my girlfriend walking around late at night in Clapham because the lighting is so low at night, especially when you get off the main road.
As someone local to the area, can some of you other locals kindly stop running down council estates and the like? It's depressing and unnecessary. SW, indeed all London, is a huge melting pot. It's a bad look, and honestly just sounds like a dog whistle. There are affluent areas all over Clapham...
I think that's a big jump, though. There could be myriad reasons it happened. Incidentally, are there any photos of the perp out there beyond the court sketch?
There's 17 miles between the arrest location of Blackheath and Fryent Country Park. We were still in a type of lockdown when these murders happened. That's a lot of distance. Easily made in a car, and a bike too (if your butt is up for it!), but still interesting. Are we sure this is a stranger...
I'm surprised for sure. Having grown up in London, knife crime here is usually gang on gang. Those not in that life generally safe cos they're of little interest. This is something different to me.
Amazing all the same. The family might finally see some justice. I guess the police and forensics...
This story twists me up! First, there is the shocking crime itself, the callousness of the attack. Two beautiful lives taken away, leaving a void in their wake. Then there is the actions of the police, particularly the actions of the police in this moment. And not for the first time - I really...
Fantastic article by Galdem here about Joy. It touches on media representation when folks of colour go missing, her family life, the church, and includes interviews with her mother, sister, ex members of the church (including our friend Chokmah who posted here), and a few others. In addition...
Rest in power, Joy! You deserved so much better, but at least now you can sleep and your family and friends know where you are.
Gutted it turned out this way but suppose it was inevitable the minute she went off the radar. That guy is pure evil. Hopefully he never gets out. As for that church...
Yup, totally. I was thinking of it more from the perspective of being a teenager in that scenario; how he didn't fold, even with Boy B giving him up. But as you and Kiki infer, his counsel was good. Still, it's another thing being told not to say anything and another then doing it.
Good point about the bag and water bottle--nobody does that!
I thought it was interesting that when he first placed himself in the house, he said he had picked up a white plank and put it down again. Knowing how he changed his story repeatedly to fit the facts, I think he may have been...
Amazing people. It broke me when they described Ana as a dream come true, and how she always will be. Keeping Ana alive in the present where she will always remain.
Oh gosh, O'Donoghue. Not heard that name for awhile, and a case I remember well. On the face of it, he seems (seemed?) to have rehabilitated well enough, but there was a lot more going on in that story than he was prosecuted for. In my opinion!
Thanks a bunch for posting, Chokhmah! As others have said, the forum is easy to access, but private messages are one way around that. With what you've been able to piece together, do you feel police will be able to do similar? I ask this because you, for example, have access to members of the...
