Yes, but only after taking the time to contact the deceased's friends, and ask them to accompany you while you search the area for him. THEN you get the hell out of dodge.
I've always thought the media's reporting of the two was a curiosity.
From day one, there was a clear distinction between...
Isn't it the day after Ausgirl? I thought the vehicle was taken by NSWPF on Saturday morning, and he went to Cooma on Sunday.
I forget who posted it (and my apologies to them) but somebody suggested earlier that GM may have actually been INVITED to Cooma for a visit. This seems to fit very well...
Just expanding on my idea about the debt.
What if Gao had the idea on ripping GM off. Showing up to pay his debt, waiting until the drugs and the money were in the same place, and then pulling out a weapon with the idea of leaving with both.
So like this.
1. JG turns up to the meeting with...
Very good observation.
Rogerson and McNamara are loan sharks and debt collectors, that's a well known fact.
What if Gao had money in that bag of his, to settle an outstanding debt to someone that RR and GM were agents for? Was McNamara taking him to exchange it for some previously lodged...
:floorlaugh: It's funny because it's true.
I agree with Ivana though, speculation can be a very dangerous thing indeed.
Mind you though, the media are speculating a lot on who killed who and why, we're simply exploring the alternative theories.
Thank you Ivana NGO, you're most kind.
I like your plausible deniability.
"Why on earth would I kill Gao inside a complex with a gazillion CCTV cameras"
:tantrum:
I'm with you. I don't think this was a planned hit a-tall.
Nor can I believe that the best thing two seasoned and experienced detectives could bring with them to transport the body in was a surfboard cover and a blanket, and that they didn't even have those things waiting on hand with them in...
There's plenty of merit in what you say. This is what we call the doctrine of extended joint criminal enterprise, and the normal authority for convictions in such matters is the case of Jacobs and Mehajer, in which the crown could not prove which of the potential killers inflicted the fatal...
Look, mine too. He's an experienced killer, and it has his MO all over it.
Unfortunately though, the court cannot convict on opinion...
Well, not lay opinion anyway, and not speculative opinion like MO.
Let's look at the elements of the offence of murder that the Crown needs to prove. I'll set them out for everyone here.
Before anyone can be convicted of murder, the Crown must establish the following elements;
1. An act or omission of the accused,
2. That caused,
3. The death charged...
<modsnip>
Who fired the gun? Was it McNamara, was it Rogerson, or was it neither? This is a most delicate problem for the Crown in prosecuting the case. It's not enough to prove that one or the other did it, the Crown must prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, that ONE of them, in particular...
Simple. Everyone knows that Rogerson is respected by both staff and inmates alike inside and will be welcome and well received. Whilst McNamara on the other hand...

With the greatest respect, Sleepinoz, I'm not sure I agree.
At that stage of the investigation there would be some confusion about which offence the warrant would need to be issued for. What offence is the CCTV footage proof of? Is it kidnapping or murder, is it proof of neither, or is it proof...
I don't know, but I can offer the two most likely reasons.
1. They were targeting the vehicle that they thought the deceased was transported in, and they were sure of this from the CCTV footage. Remember that the purpose of this search is probably to find evidence supporting the warrant...
