Just heard on the radio from an eyewitness who said the attacker was acting very aggressively and was wearing a medical mask.

Thank goodness they got to him before he succumbed to his injuries. It must have been touch and go for a while. I would imagine and hope that any good judge and jury will convict with the harshest possible sentencing.

Forensics were on the scene today too, which also implies something of note was found there with the ambulance following. Sounds awful but perhaps not everything fit in the suitcases.

He could have tied/gagged them all and then gone on a rant for however long before finally killing them and fleeing. There could also just have been no appointments on that day, or perhaps they were not operating appointments out of the house so it wasn't a concern.

Oh I completely agree with you - I was just making the point that it is very easy to shoot yourself and seriously injure yourself with a crossbow - but to actually effectively kill yourself instantly with a single crossbow bolt is an entirely different matter.

Regarding the practicality of shooting himself with the crossbow; I spent some years in an archery club growing up, and did interact with crossbows as well as bows. Some styles of crossbow have a sort of lever to discharge them rather than a trigger; it would be very possible to easily fire it...

BBC News currently showing helicopter shots over an extremely wooded area in Gordon Hill/Enfield area where the search is focused right now - adds further credance to the possibility mentioned in this thread that he could have comitted suicide in the wood somewhere, or is at least hiding there.
