Amanda Knox tried for the murder of Meredith Kercher in Italy *NEW TRIAL* #2

Just to correct something. There's this thing called 'pro-bono'. It entails a lawyer working for someone free of charge. Traditionally, this is done as a public service to those who cannot afford a lawyer in civil court. In criminal cases, that is the excuse as well, though the pragmatic...

AU - Plans for emu underpass vetoed as, doggone it, emus not bright enough to use it

Obviously that's a scan of a male emu - it's the females that are the masterminds - just look at how they can con those guys into taking care of all of the child-care! <ducks for cover>

Is that a monkey in your pants or...

No charges probably means that they got these guys to name names - they're most likely just runners, and the authorities are probably much more interested in finding out who the real players were in the deal. All JMO of course.

Feds: Fla. warehouses disabled kids in nursing homes

Yeah, I know...it's just that Florida's government seems to have an awfully heavy concentration of outrageous laws/policies/actions, most likely due to their unique blend of clashing demographics. Almost like it's a testing ground for all of the worst ideas of the rest of the nation. Don't get...

AU - Plans for emu underpass vetoed as, doggone it, emus not bright enough to use it

Too stupid to use an underpass? That's just what the Emus want us to think, so that we'll be off guard when they take over the world! (personally, I think the Otters are going to beat them to it) ;)

Boy with Down Syndrome denied first class

Specifically, the fact that the Airline hasn't released such material as damage control is...well, rather suspect, IMO. All JMO, as always.

GUILTY CA - Manuel Ortega & others for gang rape of 15yo girl, Richmond, 2009

One of the attackers has pleaded guilty, expected to be sentenced to 32 years in prison (he'll be 55 when he gets out if he serves the full sentence). http://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/Man-admits-gang-rape-of-Richmond-teen-3846055.php

Feds: Fla. warehouses disabled kids in nursing homes

Sigh...that's Florida for you. Yet another reason for me to boycott that messed up state.

Boy with Down Syndrome denied first class

Yeah, that seems to be the default position of Airline employees when it comes to filming of their interactions with customers - either as an assertion of 'authority' that they do not in fact have, or to head off potential lawsuits etc, since they do tend to be in the wrong (legally and/or...

Boy with Down Syndrome denied first class

Hired security at airports & rail stations are notorious for not being aware of the right to film them, as well as for overly aggressive reactions to said filming (numerous examples can be found at the 'Photography is not a crime" site here: http://www.pixiq.com/contributors/carlosmiller ). I...

    Deceased/Not Found CA - Sierra LaMar, 15, Morgan Hill, 16 March 2012 #18 *A. Garcia-Torres guilty*

With his rage issues and the descriptions of the previous attempts, it seems to me that whatever he did to her, he did with his hands...beating, strangling or both...terrible to think of such brutality being inflicted on her delicate body, but that's what I associate with his type of offender...

Ugh, I don't know which is worse - the thought that this poor girl lost her life so someone could get their jollies, or that she had her life stolen from her as part of an indifferent cleanup. :furious: I do agree with your analysis, regardless. All JMO

    Found Deceased SC - Brittanee Drexel, 17, Myrtle Beach, 25 April 2009 - #15

From what I'm aware, it is very rare for LE to make public their use of dogs in the course of investigations. Usually when they do announce it, it's when the media finds out anyway, or when they are trying to reassure the public (usually during searches). So, yeah, it wouldn't surprise me at...

    Found Deceased SC - Brittanee Drexel, 17, Myrtle Beach, 25 April 2009 - #15

I'm not certain, it was so long ago (geez, it's so sad that I can say that in this case). It was around that time frame though. I seem to recall that it was a female poster who went boating with her husband? Not at all certain on that, the only thing that I'm 100% on is that the poster went...

    Deceased/Not Found CA - Sierra LaMar, 15, Morgan Hill, 16 March 2012 #18 *A. Garcia-Torres guilty*

Most likely they are waiting for an outside expert to help get more definitive characteristics - coroner's offices rarely have experts on hand that have the background needed to handle severely decomposed remains. In addition, LEAs & coroner's are very cautious when it comes to ruling things...
