I think Occam's Razor would suggest that one killer in both crimes is a more simple explanation than multiple killers in two crimes. "Entities should not be multiplied unnecessarily."

Thanks for fact checking. This solidify's it more so. Even before this, I think its more than plausible that both victims were within arms reach of the perp or at minimal, the other victim... we're all on the same team here.
