IMO if you hear something over and over again ad nauseam it produces less of an emotional response than the first few times you heard it. I can imagine that TM's parents have heard that recording many, many times now.

This is a very good question.

As I am understanding it, he was TM was telling Rachel his actions at the time, that he was walking home, that the man was following him, etc. So I don't think it's completely unreasonable that she would think he would have continued this narration if he chose to confront GZ. jmo.

imo this is exactly what's going on. I think she's doing a fair job of avoiding it.

I imagine if the phone fell on the ground near where the TM and GZ were, the sounds of scuffling in wet grass might have been audible.

IMO just because someone does not explicitly say that they are scared does not imply that they aren't. I wish they had asked her if he sounded afraid.
