To clarify! LVN and LPN are the same..they are NOT nurses aides or nurses assistants. They are LICENSED vocational/practical nurses. They are trained at a vocational college or possibly a community college. They have a technical diploma. Not a "degree" as an RN does.

That looks like an in-patient hospice of some sort. I can't imagine jahi would be taken there....I'm not sure hospice would allow feeding tubes, etc...I don't think they do unless they are in place before being admitted. But in this case, WHO knows!
I agree. This situation is getting weirder by the day. I don't think the school teacher should be involved in giving "updates" on Jahi when there is so much controversy over whether she is living or is dead. The kids may be confused and asking questions, but telling them Jahi is alive is just...
I'm unclear if jahi's mom wasn't asked about organ donation. I do know that no one asked me if I wanted to donate my mother's organs. So I may be a "law" but there must also be some type of process to narrow down candidates.

What about what Dr. Flori said in her report?
She has not had evidence of bowel functioning (sounds) for weeks. Yesterday (January 2), she passed some stool that was clinically consistent with defecation of the tissues lining the bowel (i.e., her body is sloughing her gut).
Is...
I wouldn't think a lay person would have a clue what it is or how to use it. It's a hard plastic thing. Hooks into a canister that is connected to the wall. You'd have to turn it on to make it suction. It has a dial to adjust the amount of suction.
thank you! I have followed Jahi's story since before Christmas and, since my mom passed last year at Christmas, I've really been making comparisons. Regardless of how Jahi got to the point of needing the vent, the fact is, according to the law, she is deceased and not coming back. No amount of...
I get what you're saying. I've never been in this exact situation, but we did make the decision to take my mom off the vent once she coded and her kidneys (and other organs) had failed. She was being kept functioning via meds (which were struggling to do the job) and the vent, but she was gone...
No, I have no idea.
I do remember my mom coming back from open heart surgery to ICU, and she was not awake...had a million tubes in. We were allowed in once they got her "situated". Also last year, she was admitted to ICU for a blood infection (sepsis). The nurses let us stay in the room for...
I believe back in another post, someone mentioned that when going to ICU after surgery, patients sometimes bypass what we think of as the typical recovery room. They go directly to ICU. Or something like that.
:truce:
I'm thinking those meds may be the mom's. Looks like there is an inhaler in the bag. Maybe she brought them in case she was away from home a long time (which I guess she was, if she had been at the hospital).
