Could it be that the victims were indeed burned in a fire, but their remains (ashes, bone fragments, teeth, etc.) were removed from the fire pit and disposed of elsewhere? This would explain the comment about searchers not knowing what they were looking for. Perhaps trace amounts of DNA were...

If I'm looking at the correct listing, the $1.9 million is actually for only half of the house. It's a semi-detached home (i.e. duplex). Inner city Calgary real estate is pretty crazy, hey?
