I wonder if, letter-of-the-law, opening a drain that's made to be opened is enough for a murder conviction. Drilling a hole, yes. But this is actually a FEATURE of the kayak. Could they make the case he was negligent for not doing a gear check?

Because the sketch and description of her kidnapper were so far off base, it seems intentional.

I only started reading about this after Abigail was home safe, but it sounds like a straight-out kidnapping with Stockholm syndrome. And, I'm guessing Abbie's captor made her swear some kind of an oath in return for letting her go, so she's conflicted in helping the prosecution.

That's really bizarre and sad. It seems like he feels guilt for not getting help for his baby sister, and so he created this fictitious child in trouble, so he could call for help.
