A disgruntled ex-employee is another good possibility. That could give him an inside track on where BT is going to be. He could still have friends at the company who shared info with him. Or for all we know he could be BT's recently fired exec assistant who made BT's reservations himself!

I like this idea ... e-bikes cost thousands IIRC, and expensive items left unattended in NYC, no matter how well chained up, don't last! If he'd chained the bike nearby in advance, it MIGHT still be there when he needed it but probably not in its original condition. Maybe someone at the hostel...
I saw this mentioned earlier & am wondering... didn't we see a shot of him leaving the subway station right before the killing without his bike. There was discussion upthread of where he got the bike - maybe he'd left it nearby, maybe he had an accomplice holding it in the area ... neither of...
Just posting this for anyone else from NYC to clarify the reference to Port Authority... not 42nd St. i was so confused thinking he rode his bike uptown then got a cab back down!

Thank you for posting this! I see the meeting didn't start til 8:00, so the shooter wouldn't likely have thought he'd get lucky & hit an insurance man by shooting at anyone near the hotel at 6;45....

I was trying to think what it could be & only thought of the gun since he emerged on the bike ... didn't know you could still go on an e-bike w/o the battery! but why would he stop to mess with his bike & leave part behind only to make it slower ?
IMO
Is it possible the killer knew an insurance meeting was about to happen & and wanted to kill someone at the event tho not BT in particular? BT was shot at 6:45 am ... if the meeting started at 7, maybe the killer figured he had a good chance of catching someone the "deny, depose" or whatever...
Oh yeah, I could see this ... I keep repeating he can't be foreign, but what I really mean is foreign & self-motivated! It still seems like a hired hit IMO
But he flies or somehow travels to the US to stalk & murder an unknown Minnesotan insurance CEO on a busy NYC street ... what for? Adventure?
I mean I know we don't have the answer... it just doesn't fit for me. I don't see why anyone from outside the US would want anything to do with this for...
But why??? Why would a young ideological extremist from a wealthy family want to ruin the rest of his life by incompetently murdering an insurance executive on a bustling Manhattan street? Why no-name (with all due respect) BT - do they not have any insurance executives in Atlanta??
