I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but downtown Kitchener isn't what it used to be.
There is a notorious homeless encampment (one MSM article per word) located about a 1.3km walk away from EW's home. Lots of people with mental health and addiction in the area. Many reports of...
With time I imagine that the number of dedicated investigators goes down, based on the work load. Given the high visibility of this case I suspect that several officers will remain dedicated to the case, even if they aren't making any progress.
Those live video's are on YT, one is linked a bit up this thread and another got posted on the same channel last night. There appears to be so much disfunction in that family. The videos are crazy.
My understanding is that the "river" is 50-100m across the road from the home, but down what appears to be a 5m drop. It's not walking friendly, if I fell down that embankment I'm not sure I'd be walking up it. The forest in the area appears to be pretty heavy and impassible.
The impression I...
Thanks for posting that, I was looking at the same view yesterday but couldn't figure out how to share it.
That image was taken in August 2025, in the middle of severe drought, so the water level will be lower than it was in May, but to call it a river is generous.
Here's hoping for a safe and successful search!
Like many I've seen in other posts I looked up the river after reading the article. Apparently it is hidden just across the street from L & J's home, down what appears to be, at least in Google Street View, a heavily forested ~20ft incline...
I imagine that 3-4kph speeds are on flat, paved, terrain. Not rugged forest or trail. When my kids were similar ages the nice paved trails I could do 3-4km round trips in an hour. Similar trips in hilly forested areas would be 2-3 hours(the kids slept great after those hikes).
I tested this using my Pixel 7 Pro a few weeks ago when this first came up. With power saving on it still recorded where I visited in my timeline. Seems power saving modes aren't equal across devices.
From what I can see common law status in NS can be claimed after living together for two years, or after any amount of time if the couple are living together and have a child. If Meadow was born in 2023(I think she was) they could claim common law for the 2023 tax year regardless of how long...
I'm not sure that there is one, aside from the fact it would cause friction between MBM and DM. I apologize if I've derailed the conversation by bringing it up.
1) Possible but silly.
2) I suspect even their combined income would entitle them to the max CCB.
3) Possible, but not likely IMO.
4) It would make sense that both child support and CCB would go to MBM's account.
The G&M article seems to be the source for not collecting CCB, but I'm not sure...
You are correct, when Meadow was born they became a Common Law Couple, with CCB being determined by based on family income. As such DM not filing taxes would impact MBM's CCB payments.
But for them to have not been receiving CCB in May 2025 it would have to have been due to DM not filing...
