Walkie talkies are another thing that would make no sense. They'd be unpredictable noise when it needs to be as quiet as possible. They catch static and blast it. And most of them make beeping sounds at the beginnings and ends of transmissions. Not stealthy.

It makes zero sense to remove it from the outside, when all they'd need to do is open the inside door and reach out. No chance at all of anyone being recorded that way.
