Remember there was a guy who looked like the original sketch arrested? This new direction came after that. I'm speculating about an uncooperative witness under arrest for a different crime, ruled out, yet connected somehow but can't be charged.

I'm sure they have looked at almost every male in Delphi by this point.

Did they not say she ran off without her coat? Might be wrong. Edit - assuming she did run off due to a distressed mental state without her coat and medication, had a seizure someplace and hit her head or something? Could be an elaborate cover story though.

Were they not likely waiting on one of the platforms for the killer to pass and that's when he took control? They were obviously already suspicious/scared and add to that the bridge is old and rickety and not suitable for running. He could have pulled out a gun/knife as soon as he got close to...

Police specifically said to not focus on the hat as it is a composite sketch and focus on the facial features.

i'm sure I read that they asked to focus on facial features as they weren't positive of the hat

"Still doesn't explain why the agent was participating. Just that one was." IIRC an FBI agent happened to be a local resident and that is why he was in the initial search team - I'm sure he humbly offered his law enforcement experience to aid his community.

Is it confirmed that the audio is from the same source and not possibly from a separate recording of BG leaving a message indicating where they were found?

I get the impression he is one of the creepiest men to be in front of a camera and he's got severe mental issues. It is disturbing.

If you think like the enemy for a minute - he might have two jackets because he is going to throw away the top one, on to conceal weapons underneath.
