Snippets from article:

"FRANKLIN, Tenn. - A 10-year-old Franklin girl was awarded for courage and bravery after heroic effort that saved the life of her grandmother..."

"...At only 40 pounds, Maddie is small in stature but big in heart. It was back in September when the youngster saved her grandmother's life by performing the Heimlich maneuver.
She learned the technique just that day while watching an episode of "The Suite Life of Zach and Cody" on the Disney Channel."

"...Thursday Maddie was honored for her heroics. She was given the first ever Roderick Award of Courage. The award was named for a civil war horse that died in the battle of Thompson's Station..."

"...The committee also gave Maddie a check for $1,000. She plans to put it into a college fund."

Aww way to go Maddie! Congrats sweetie! At the link you can see who proud she is of her award in a picture. :)

What a smart girl. To have someone need help...especially a loved one...& be able to remember the Heimlich maneuver & not panic shows great courage & calm. She is an inspiration.

She sounds like she' a wonderful little girl. And isn't it amazing that she had just learned how to do it that very day! Just in time to save Grandma.
