2010.04.20 - Funeral plans?

  • #241
Preparing for a funeral WHEN they find her body, or have PROOF that's she's dead is one thing. That's NOT what this is. Unless LE has been lying about finding part of her, all they have is a crap story from two lying little druggies....no one has even been charged with murder yet. It's like putting the cart before the horse for Pete's sake.

Since we do not know what makes the police declare Haleigh's case a homicide it is impossible to begin to really know what the family was told in depth and why police believe it so strongly now. Imo, none of the family members are going to go into great detail about what they were told by LE.

Many unsolved cases have been declared homicides even before the body is found to confirm it. Other cases have gone to trial and the defendant convicted and LE still had not found the body. Even though S. Peterson wasnt arrested for 4 months Sharon Rocha knew her child and grandchild were never coming home alive again and so did LE.

No one has to be charged with a murder for LE to know a murder has occurred. Again we do not know the evidence that they have collected in their ongoing investigation but they do.

They would never declare Haleigh's case a homicide if they didnt have anything to base it on.

I think right now everyone knows that Susan Powell is dead and her husband is the POI but they haven't found her body either.

So I do believe LE was honest with the family and told them this was going to be the outcome all of them didn't want and instead of hoping upon hope she would return alive, the best the family could do now is hope her body is found so that she can be given a proper funeral and if her body is never found, probably once an arrest or arrests are made, they will hold a memorial service for her.

What you bring up is really important, BetteDavisEyes. Whether true or not, TN stating that Ron had to go off somewhere to talk to HaLeigh sounds like he believes her to be dead. Of course, it could mean something else but, if we have someone missing, is there somewhere in particular we need to go to "talk" to them, or could that take place anywhere, since we have no idea where our missing loved one could be? (I doubt just about everything Teresa Neves says, and she says a LOT! In fact, I think her abundance of words and emotions ~which ring untrue and "off" so much of the time ~ are helping to solve this crime, if it isn't solved already).

Does anyone else remember that Annette Sykes was also interviewed around the holidays and was making excuses for Ron being gone from some of the family gathering(s)? Could it actually be that he was doing something with the area where HaLeigh's body is (or was) or with HaLeigh's remains? To give so much emphasis, to bring up that Ron wasn't with them most of the time, and Teresa and Annette's obvious compulsion to make excuses for that makes me suspicious. Then and now.

Could they have all known, or at least have thought, that there would be less attention paid to them over the holidays by LE? This wasn't the case with media though, and I don't think for a moment they welcomed the questions, though they play it off, in my opinion.

Just some thoughts and opinions.

I've always felt that Haleigh has been carefully and sentimentally placed somewhere very dear to the Cummings/Neves/Sykes family. I don't think anyone else knows where she is.

Months ago I asked if anyone knew where they may have recreated-- parks, campgrounds, spots along the river, etc. I believe they have, in their minds, given her a burial... a public one would be for more donations. jmo

Well, now that I have heard that it was RC and TN that wanted the funeral or memorial for Haleigh.....I really believe they wanted it for $$ donations.....MO
My prayers go out to CS and her family every day...I pray everyday that Haleigh be found...I cannot imagine the pain that this mother is in...

I would love to know that too, BDE. He probably went to that area near the dock. IIRC, it's not that far from GMSykes house. Maybe that's why Misty had to give TN and GMSykes a heads up on the search. What if they were all going to visit Haleigh there. What if they marked the burial spot with a few flowers (roses maybe) and a couple items that were sentimental to them (TN/GMS)? What if they went to the woods the day before the search, to retrieve those items, so they would not be linked back to them? Just thinking out loud..sorry for the OT:waitasec:
IIRC, Ron was dating a dancer in St. Pete around the holidays. The baloney about him going to talk to Haleigh was an excuse to explain his absence, IMO.

Is this the same meeting the Sheriff spoke with the family, or an earlier one?
If this is, then the Sheriff had asked the family not to discuss the conversations he had with them.

RC has custody of Haleigh.....Major networks would pay to televise the memorial or funeral....his bond $$$$....MO

I have to share that same thought...with you...I find it hard to believe that Haleigh was put in the water...(especially if the Grandparents KNEW/involved about the cover up)...AND LEFT THERE....to be consumed...(sorry)...BY EVEN RON allowing her remains to be under...She may..originally put there..then later retrieved and privately buried known ONLY by a select few...It feels TOO COLD/TOO MORBID to me to let a child/grandchild STAY..buried underwater...especially with knowledge of her there...BUT...she could have been...ORIGINALLY PLACED THERE...in a panic...Perhaps ToC in leading the LE there...DID NOT KNOW..she had been retrieved...(all in my opinion)

Edited to add...I am now thinking she MAY have been retrieved soon after being placed in the water...DUE TO..the searchers finding some concrete blocks and yellow rope...If she was retrieving for burial, once she was loosened from the rope/s tying her down, they did not NEED the rope and concrete blocks and left behind in the water...which searchers found...Sorry if sounds morbid

IIRC, wasn't he also with Misty during the holidays??? When was the car chase?? It appears Ron never let go of Misty even after the divorce so IMO, this dancer in St Pete was really irrevelant.

JMO though

I think so, too, cam. If LE told them they now know it was a homicide and they're growing closer to finding the truth, then there is a possibility Haleigh's remains might be recovered. Or, at least the truth about her remains would be revealed. It just makes sense to wait for the outcome before holding a funeral. But I guess there's no sense in holding up the donations in the meantime.

The C. Jones incident was December 30th. I could be wrong about the St. Pete gal being in the picture at Christmas, but I do recall a lot of talk about him being with her at Thanksgiving. In the whole scheme of things, she might be irrelevant, but for awhile there while Misty was in Tennessee and estranged from Ron, I think she was occupying his time quite a bit.

I understand your opinion BUT I would like to make it clear that Ronald and Teresa wanted a funeral. yes, I agree with your opinion that they were trying to make if FINAL. But that decision was made on their own because PCSO did not advise them to have a funeral or memorial of any kind.

Of Course Crystal is not "ready" to have a funeral for her daughter because there is no proof that HaLeigh is no longer alive.

My prayers go out to Crystal and Marie and being a mother and grandmother, I fully understand their reluctance to plan a funeral. Hearing that Ron and his mother wanted one.... I have no words. That's just..... cold.

Perhaps, just maybe... TN and Company thought we'd all back off if they had a memorial.

Fat chance! I'm here until there's justice served. jmo

Egads can nothing in this case be easy? OK Shoemaker says they are told to start planning a funeral. Crystal's family said they were NOT told that, but lo and behold, who is the first one to start the planning? Crystal. Someone just shoot me.

Woah, woah, woah - did I miss something? Last I heard LE did NOT find Haleigh. I heard (what I thought was a rumour) the family should plan for a funeral, but I thought, hey - at least wait until the DNA comes back on those bones. We can all assume she's passed - but I'd like to see some evidence.

For example, Mitrice Richardson has been missing since September, 2009 and no funeral has been planned for her -- people are still looking!

What am I missing here? Someone please enlighten me :(

I don't think there are any funeral plans right now, I don't think Crystal was ever planning one.

Thanks for clearing that one up for me. I saw NG last night and she had a "in remberance of Haleigh Cummings" at the end. I thought that was weird since I hadn't heard they found her. Then again, Nancy can be weird (can I say that) LOL. In all seriousness, I am a fan of her show.

All the best,

Mel

I don't really know how to say this, but there are no funeral plans that I have read or heard about anywhere. Just talk and speculation of it. Talk of what was said to Crystal and Ron and talk of Ron and TN planning a funeral. We don't know, I don't know even what happened or who said what or did what. Just because it's in the paper/online quoted, doesn't make it so, it is a private moment if true. Not for me to post about other than to offer sympathy for the families.

I feel having a thread talking about who said what now is not needed, there isn't a obit or death certificate filed, nor a conclusion to plea deals but most importantly there is no Haleigh. I hope this thread is moved downstairs. It has to be awful for a family who has a missing child to hear about. JMO

No offence to anyone but the point is mute.

Wow, that post was from a month ago that you quoted. We all know things change daily with this case. At the time I wrote it--that was the information we had. We NOW know differently.

During Hardy's PC I did not interpret his words or meaning this way. The media was asking him what he had said to Haleigh's family when he was meeting with them and he said he would rather keep that conversation between him and the family.

I noticed that the article is not in quotes.
