With all due respect in my opinion that 'time run' is absolutely meaningless to say the least. You could run one to prove he could do it in 5 minutes if you wanted to or you could do one that says it would take at least 20 minutes. It'd be more believable if he brought blood/DNA evidence with him in his car but he didn't which in my opinion means it's not possible in 13 minutes.

It's as meaningless and misleading in my opinion as when the prosecution claimed his phone pinged 23 times in the area and everyone took that as if he was in their driveway.
I’ll play. So what’s your theory? Who and when? How long do 4 murders take? How did the DNA get on the KaBar sheath?

LE has multiple methods of surveillance, I've learned from other cases on WS. Rare is it two LE in a van down the block, though it does happen. Extra camera up on a pole at a key location? Yup.

Did LE "see" BK cleaning his car? In real time? Maybe not. But they may have seen it on CCTV which in some ways is even better. Because then there's a recording. And we'll get to see it too, eventually!

Doctoral defendant might have been scrubbing up to his elbows in bleach or peroxide, another good reason for gloves. But also, he could have been vacuuming like it was an Olympic sport. Going after every fiber, with every fiber, of his being.

Plus he'd already made own really bad move, leaving the sheath with his DNA behind. I'd expect him not to want to make that mistake another time. Wonder if he bought himself some Q-tips on Amazon, good for getting into those tight nookies, snappies and crannies.

We heard about his middle of the night vacuuming. DM thought he might have been carrying something which she described as like a handheld vacuum. And we know he cleaned his car, perhaps to obsession.

Maybe his dustbuster is his emotional support animal.

Excellent point. I didn't think of cctv footage--even on a pole. And recording it.

It's funny, you know I've been wondering for a while if I am crazy enough to do a practice run. I would have to get my husband in cahoots with me to try this. Might have to have a glass of wine first but I just might try it. Lol!
JMHO I think the weapon itself did a lot of the work for BK. That was not a basic kitchen knife or a weapon of opportunity. Knives like that are designed to be efficient and really only serve one intended purpose. Depending on the injuries it might only take a few minutes per person but to me that would indicate that the killer also possibly did a few "practice runs" of their own. jmo.

BBM
In my opinion I think that's exactly what he had done. I think he also practiced how long it would take him to get out the blood spatter mitigation before he went into the house. And I also think he practiced how he left the house out to the car and how he would peel everything off into one bag and follow through with that blood spatter mitigation.

Exactly! As a reminder, or for those who have not seen a KaBar knife, and are picturing a kitchen knife, here is a picture...Foot long knife with a 7 inch long, 1 inch wide, fixed blade. A knife made for killing. JMO

5-10 minutes is an eternity if you set a timer and watch it till it stops. Much like I'm doing with the clock at work right now.

I challenge anyone who thinks it could not be done in 7 minutes... to set a timer and walk around your house or apartment for 7 minutes.

This amount of time is incredibly long for moving up and down in one house and killing people.

Oh totally different than a kitchen or utility knife.

So, I am afraid of the one knife that I have here for all the reasons people are indicating here. My late husband's father collected them, and just today I took it out of the safe to take a picture to post here so you all can see semi-up close. It's old. And it's still SO sharp that if I am not careful replacing it into the sheath, it will cut right through the sheath. Second picture is for a good look at the snap of it.

To answer your question no one person could not do all of that in 12 minutes in my opinion with only a knife. No way anyone leaves that scene without blood or DNA evidence in my opinion.
MOO except maybe a fit, martially competent student of serial/mass killers.

The blood of the victims upstairs stayed on the bed.
The speed of the downstairs attacks meant minimal blood also, the coroner can testify as to whether their wounds were the type spray out.
Blood spatter he could not avoid and the supposition is that he "peeled" on a plastic bag then got in his car.

Probably found? You think he dripped blood on the ground and somehow did not get any in his car?

They tested his car for a lot more than just blood and they found nothing with no sign of him cleaning the car either. If he did try to clean the car we'd of heard about it by know in my opinion.
Garbage bagged or had plastic laid out in trunk, for his shoes, gloves, clothes etc...probably had onesie overalls on too. He did have a masters in criminology and was studying for his doctorate.

If you use stuff regularly used to clean cars then there's nothing odd about it for anyone to talk about. We've also though not heard everything about what the P has, there's a gag order in place. AJMO

BK knows about fiber-free booties, fiber-free face masks that cover mouth, hair and overall body....

No transfer evidence was recovered from his car because he took great care to prevent transfer.

Whoa....several new orders with lots of details today.

First one:

"The Court finds that some ofthe hearsay statements on the 911 call do not qualify under the exceptions cited by the State and, therefore, must be redacted. However, the balance of the 911 call as well as the texts and conversations noted herein are likely admissible provided that the requisite foundation is laid at trial.' The transcript will be allowed as a demonstrative aid, again assuming proper foundation is established." (the transcript is of the 911 call and will be given to jury to read as they listen)

Details about the girls evening:
D.M., B.F., KG, and MM got home from their evening out. EC and XK weren't home yet. Around 2 am DM, BF, KG, and MM met up in KG's room and talked for a while. They debated about going otu to a food truck for a late snack, DM texted an Uber driver friend at 2:10 to see if he was driving. Ultimately they all decided not to go out and instead just go to bed.

"At approximately 4:00 a.m., D.M. heard strange noises and crying coming from the bathroom. She opened her door at one point and saw a man dressed in black with a ski mask on walking by her bedroom door. She then placed calls and texts to her other roommates to see if they were awake. Only B.F., who resided on the ground floor, answered. They spoke once for 24 seconds, during which D.M. told B.F. she thought she heard something. They spoke again a minute later for 41 seconds when D.M. told B.F. she saw a man in a ski mask leaving the house. They then exchanged the following text messages between 4:22 and 4:26 a.m."
"D.M. then exited her room and began running toward B.F.'s bedroom. On her way, she noticed Xana lying on the floor of her bedroom, with her head towards the wall and her feet toward to the door. D.M. thought Xana was drunk."
"At 10:23, she texted Madison, asking "R u up[.]" Jd. She received no response. D.M. continued to access Instagram and Snapchat until 11:29 a.m., when she texted Kaylee, "R u up??" Jd. Again, there was no response, which D.M. thought was strange because Kaylee and Madison were "early wakers." GJ Trans. at 188: 15-24. D.M. continued accessing various social media sites, included checking Ethan and Xana's Snapmap locations."

"At approximately 11:50 a.m., D.M. called her friend E.A. and asked her to come over and check the house because she was scared. E.A. and her boyfriend, H.J. came over. Exh. D1; GJ Trans. at 276:9-12. They met D.M. and B-F. at the bottom floor of the house. GJ Trans. at 277:24. Together D.M., B.F. and H.J. started to walk up the stairs to the second floor. When they reached the second floor, H.J. went to the kitchen to grab a kitchen knife.
When he came back out, D.M. "saw Xana again for a split second. And I just started bawling because I thought she had just like I don't even know. I thought maybe she was still just drunk and all asleep on the floor." GJ Trans. at 190: 1-25; 245:22-246:20. B.F. also saw Xana lying on the floor. /d. at 231:13-17. H.J. told D.M. and B.F. to "get out." E.A., who had started up the stairs, also turned around after H.J. instructed her not to come any further. /d. at 276:13-21. They both went outside. Shortly afterwards, H.J. exited the house and told them to call 911. He was pale white and mentioned something about someone being unconscious"

Apartment warrant
The King Road Residence contained a significant amount of blood from the victims including spatter and castoff (bloodstain pattern resulting from blood drops released from an object due to its motion) which, based on my training, makes it likely that this evidence was transferred to Kohberger's person, clothing, or shoes.
MOO current criminals are forensically savvy, common bank robbers undress on Hefty bags, rapists shave before attacking. Preparing plastic on seats pedals and gearshift.
FBI processed the car 3 times.
They expected to find trace evidence and didn't.

On the SW return:
Floor mats, door panel, seats, seat cushions, visor, head rest, seatbelt, brake pedal, gas pedal, and seat belt boot.

A person who wraps the inside of their car in plastic has to remove the plastic at some point without transferring trace evidence while removing said plastic.

I stated earlier, BK had about six weeks between the time of the murders and the time of his arrest. That is a lot of time for cleaning a car, and he seemed to be fond of cleaning things, as a former downstairs neighbor claimed that he was noisy, often up late at night washing things, and there have also been reports of late night vacuuming.

Kohberger was a night owl, according to the neighbor, walking around well past midnight and “washing things.”

We also know that he was seen by LE meticulously cleaning his car, inside and out, while under surveillance in Pa..

Kohberger, who was pursuing a PhD in criminal justice at Washington State University at the time of the killings, “cleaned his car, inside and outside, not missing an inch,” according to the law enforcement source.

And he reportedly used bleach to clean his car, and as a PhD student in criminology, he surely knows that bleach can damage and degrade DNA, and is thus a good method for destroying evidence in a vehicle.

But the concerns were clearly big enough for several of the family members to reportedly decide to search the 28-year-old’s vehicle to look for possible evidence. By that point, police said Mr Kohberger had already been spotted cleaning his car out with bleach and so the family members didn’t find anything of note, the source said.

With a six-week headstart on vehicle cleanup, and probably multiple scrubs and vacuumings, and more than a jug or two of bleach, and all of the precautions he almost certainly took to avoid getting DNA and blood evidence in his car, likely stripping out of his murder attire and wrapping it up before getting into his car after the killings, plastic covers on seats, pedals, etc, I honestly would have been more surprised if LE had found such evidence in his white Elantra than I would have if they had not. Lots of tidbits in here, only have time to post a few:

Heather and Jared Barnhart: experts with Cellebrite who analyzed BK's cell and PC.

"they will testify to their findings pertaining to Defendant's activities on his PC and cell phone for a period oftime before and after the homicides and why gaps in data over that time period are "abnormal." The Barnharts' opinions regarding these topics are fully set forth in their joint report. For example, they observed gaps in Defendant's school PC that "may be consistent with cleaning up" or using anti-forensic methods to clear evidence." Rpt., p. 1. Among the gaps found were in the PC's event logs and System Resource Usage Monitoring between November 11, 2022 and November 16, 2022, which Barnharts opined was abnormal given that school was in session. /d. Likewise, they located gaps in the PC's Chrome history during dates where downloads occurred on the system, indicating the user was private browsing or clearing browsing history."

Michael Douglass:
"For example, the disclosure notes Defendant only conducted ATM withdrawals on and after the date of the homicide and ceased using his debit card after November 10, 2022 whereas, prior to November 10, he had regularly used his debit card."

Detective Gilbertson:
"A report of the timed runs is attached to his disclosure. It was performed to determine if one person could carry out the homicides. His opinion will be that, depending on the suspect's pace and route, he could have carried out the crimes in approximately two to four minutes."

on digital forensics:
"Other than the disclosed opinions by Detectives Mowery and Uhrig that no digital connection was found between Defendant and the residents of 1122 King Road, Defendant argues no specific testimony regarding what the devices and data depicted should be allowed."

I want to reread the part on Ballance and the CAST stuff after I make dinner.

"Based on the foregoing, Defendant's Motion in Limine re: Vague and Undisclosed Expert Testimony is DENIED."
