He stabbed at least one of his victims. He was all over the place with his means to bind, torture and K$ll his victims.
Yes, Kathryn Bright—an early murder. In his testimony, BTK said this about stabbing her to death:
Rader: I went back to . . . finish the job on Kathryn. She was fighting, at that point in time it was, and then I heard some, I don’t know whether I was basically losing control and the strangulation wasn’t working and I used a knife on her.
Waller: You say you used a knife on her? What did you do with the knife?
Rader: I stabbed her two or three - either here or here - (pointed to lower back and abdomen) under the ribs.
Waller: Lower abdomen?
Rader: Underneath the ribs.
Waller: So after you stabbed her, what happened?
Rader: Well, actually I think at that point in time it was a total mess, I didn’t have control on it. She went down.

I remember hearing a woman on a podcast or YouTube program say that Denise Rader didn’t like stabbing people since it made too much of a mess. He liked to be in control.
I’m pretty sure the woman was his daughter, Kerri Rawson, who was participating in a discussion comparing BTK to Kohberger, IIRC. I most likely was listening to an unapproved YouTube channel that often features Gary Brucato and Ann Burgess while doing chores, so the woman may have been Burgess. Rawson was there, though.
Anyway, the woman said BTK stabbed only as a last resort. I’m not sure if he stabbed anyone else.
I can’t bear to study closely the murders of BTK, or Ted Bundy, or any of the sexual sadists. I have followed the Heuermann case closely, but only by learning the stories of his victims. I know each story well.
I know the stories of Ethan, Xana, Kaylee and Maddie, too, told to me by their parents, their friends, their own silly SM posts.
While I have far more in common with their neurodivergent murderer (except the whole hating and butchering women—and poor goofy Ethan—thing), I love each of them, each beautiful, hopeful, kind one of them, as if they were my own college students, my own step-daughter. And these people I love were brutally murdered because a man just felt like it, cared more about himself than anyone else.
I feel most sorry for Xana, who essentially had no mother but was always eager to find a stand-in. According to one of her friends:
she can make a conversation with anyone, any friend and any parent. she loved the parents, especially the moms. every tailgate. she would talk to a new mom.
I also feel sorry for her murderer’s young teen self when he bared his soul on Tapatalk. I wish someone had saved him before it was too late.
Because it is too late now. He is lost.
