They arrested BK on Dec 30, 2022. But that left Dec 31, Jan 1 and 2 for that information to have been leaked or passed on before said gag order. It is totally possible they had all the information and that is why the gag order was put in place. We'll find out at some point.

The photos on his phone that he saved as well as his selfies would have had to come directly from the phone itself. I highly doubt that in 3 days LE was able to do a phone extraction and have enough time for someone to go through the results, find the relevant photos, AND give that information to Dateline.

Do the phone extraction, sure. Start looking through photos, probably. But to identify all those photos, make contact with someone at Dateline, and give them that info in that short period before the gag order--that I highly doubt, especially given how busy all the associated LE were at that point.

If some killers want to be known for their murders, are they the sort more likely to talk about their motivations and the truth of the events after sentencing (assuming found guilty)?

Or do convicted persons never speak of these things maybe in the hope that one of their appeals or such will be upheld or their conviction could be overturned in the future? Is it all just like gambling for them? Their own life, others just pawns?

It's an interesting idea but I sincerely doubt that intelligence agencies hook up informants to get to know one another. JMO

In my real life I know one person who was a confidential informant for the police. I think it was a drug bust, IIRC, with charges dropped if the informant provided the name and whereabouts of the drug dealer. (Which sadly turned out to be the owner of an arts and crafts store for children).

As far as I know, secrecy is the whole deal. I cannot imagine a fraternity of confidential informants hanging out together. They aren’t Boy Scouts. Typically they are criminals making deals with LE or the prosecutors to reduce their charges. That’s why, at least in NYC, they are called “confidential” informants and referred to by police as “C.I.s.”

I’m waiting for AT to come up with something stunning if she thinks her best route is to blame the dead. Maybe she’ll say Jack the Ripper time-traveled to Moscow, Idaho to kill these poor kids?

Seriously, it’s a Constitutional right to face your accuser in court. What’s her plan regarding Brett, then?

It’s all just desperate, last-minute smoke and mirrors.

IMO

Is that Scott R.?
No, Johnny Law. His channel never really took off, and he stopped discussing the Idaho 4 murders two years ago. I appreciated his commentary at the time, though, and subscribed to his channel.

Interesting...I will have to go and look up some old stuff with him. I watch Colorado Atty Scott Reisch daily pretty much. He's a defense attorney and a USMC Veteran, that also has brought his KA-BAR out a few times.

Thinking outside the box, if he sent those photos to anyone, then they would have had to have been on his phone to send. No phone extraction needed.

I have no idea where the information came from or when. My mind is just open to the possibility that what Dateline has may have been provided to them by someone or someone's not covered by the gag order and since it is open to that possibility, I can see ways it could happen. JMO, as always.

Yeah he's another person who showed his KaBar knife on their YouTube channel. I didn't find his channel until after Bryan was arrested.

I didn’t know YouTubers were censored for showing a Ka-bar knife. Johnny Law may not have had enough subs to be on YouTube’s radar at the time.

Yes, I'm pretty sure the phone extraction wasn't completed until some time well after the first non D order by JJJ. Somewhere in the 2023 court docs there's a warrant issued for a thumb drive from the Moscow forensics lab for the data extracted from BK's phone. At that point the contents of the phone had simply been extracted and still needed to be analysed. Though I can't recall the exact date I'm pretty sure none of this occurred until at least Feb 2023. If anyone wants more details, this warrant is listed under Kohberger 2023 on the Idaho Cases of Interest web page. Moo

The police had the BG photo still
Extracted from Libby's and in the media on 2/15/17. Literally 24 hours from finding the girls on the 14th. MOO the investigation will get to the problem.
Unfortunately I think it is going to be sympathetic police personnel talking to some family early in early days.

We did discuss that many threads ago, and IIRC, his 2015 Model didn't have the upgraded telematics, but IDK what was standard.

Hah, did that help or did I just make it clear as mud?

MOO
IMO - I was reading online that certain models of the 2015 Elantra do have telematics so I’m hoping anyway ha ha.

Re the motive - I don’t think there will ever be a clear motive behind BK’s actions, nor will there be just one IMO.

I think his reasoning is likely frayed, confusing and non-linear; his job was pretty much lost, far from his family, ongoing health and addiction issues would’ve taken a toll, lack of luck with women, poor self esteem, surrounded by criminology and investigative research. It’s a perfect storm for somebody like BK to do something like this. It’s nonsensical and immoral, and I think his “motive” will be an amalgamation of all these things. Both new problems in his life and recurring, persistent problems caused this.

JMO of course.

Apparently they don't censor mocking victims, so what is their standard about?

Why would anyone claim to know that Kohberger is guilty, and that his motive was to impress some third party?

The murders were sloppy, messy, and pointless. No one is impressed.
I'd add that BK does not respect women. I can't imagine him wanting to impress a female professor, once he collected his good grade and moved on.
