Honestly, the thought of that ghoul Buffalo Billing around his shower curtainless bathroom to Britney crooning out 'Criminal' is something I wish I could bleach from my brain

I don't know about that. The docs are uploaded to the page and updated in the case summary after they are filed by the parties. Sometimes there might be a delay but this would be on the part of the Clerk, not the Attorneys.Sorry for the flurry of posts, guys. I started teaching again last week (after a three-week break), so I don’t have much time to post here during the week (and have just now caught up with simply reading the posts on this thread).
I post to Websleuths strictly from my smartphone since I don’t know my Websleuths password and fear not being able to sign back in if I change it, lol.
Unfortunately, the Idaho Cases of Interest page that appears on my smartphone’s web browser doesn’t list dates and the docs are not searchable, so earlier today, I finally started downloading the court documents to my laptop so I can see the dates and more easily search for information instead of relying solely on my memory.
I was struck by how many documents are uploaded on some days.
For example, on February 24 this year, 34 documents were uploaded!
Three weeks later, on March 17, 31 documents were uploaded, and a week later (on March 24), 30 more docs were uploaded. Most of these docs are meaty, not simply motions and orders to seal or requests for discovery.
I realize this is not surprising to those of you who always view the Idaho Cases of Interest page in a browser on a laptop or desktop computer, but I had no idea.
I wonder if there is strategy behind this document dumping. Once Hippler called for more transparency, did the attorneys want to overwhelm the public with information so we can’t keep up? Feb 24, Mar 17 and Mar 24 were all Mondays, at least, so the media did have the opportunity to chew on the info during the week, but that’s a lot to digest all at once.
<snipped for focus>Institutions vary widely in how many graduate hours they accept as transfer credits for a PhD program. For example, at University of Washington, a master’s degree in a relevant field of study from an accredited institution may substitute for up to 30 of the required 90 credits for a PhD (that is, ten courses), whereas Washington State University’s Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science allows students to petition to transfer credit for only five graduate courses (15 credits) taken at another institution.
The transfer policy even varies within some institutions, including at WSU. While BK’s (former) Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology does allow students to petition to transfer graduate credit:
the maximum allowed is only four graduate courses (12 credits):
I wonder why Kohberger chose a PhD program that accepts so few of the 30 hours of graduate coursework he completed for his M.A. degree in Criminal Justice at DeSales University.
If his ultimate goal was to enter academia, why did he choose an institution with a terminal masters degree in the first place?
Perhaps BK never really intended to pursue an academic career.
<snipped for focus>
Many students in Master's degree programs are not planning to go on to pursue a doctoral degree, but during their master's degree studies, often they are encouraged to do so by their professors. I suspect that was the case with BK, that he was just exploring the field (although he did have an interest) but was encouraged to continue on in his studies by one or more faculty at DeSales. Many students find themselves in that situation. I suspect BK was one of them. That he hadn't planned for a doctoral degree and all that would be involved, but due to encouragement and his interest, he decided to keep going.
Also, most students will select a doctoral program that gives them a stipend or some significant form of financial aid. Apply to several programs that have a good reputation, and see which ones make you the best offer, all things being more or less equal.
Not to mention, when you search for selfies BK took in years prior--it's clear the boy does NOT know how to adjust his flash setting or account for harsh lighting in the room/outside. Plenty of bad angles, glare, and wash out.
While I like to look for hidden meaning and clues as much as the next person, given the timing of his phone calls to his parents and the time of the photo, paired with the oddity of wearing a white button up dress shirt on a Sunday morning, that photo gives me more of a "here's proof the shirt you sent me for my bday present fits, thanks mom and dad" vibe. I'm sure we'll find out at trial if that was a pic he sent to them or not and if there was a text he sent along with it.
maybe he was on his way to church to seek forgiveness ...
I wonder if it's too much to hope for that sometime down the line BK decides to follow in the footsteps of Edmund Kemper and help the FBI learn more about criminal psychology. If I was in the BAU, that would be my wildest dream.
Would these witnesses be just for the penalty phase? If used for the guilt phase that would open the door for the Prosecution to bring in their own information of BK's past during the guilt phase also.
- Kohberger’s team wants 5 witnesses from accused killer’s life in Pennsylvania to take the stand at high-stakes quadruple murder trial
- Key figures from Bryan Kohberger's youth summoned to Idaho for student murders trial
- Key figures from Bryan Kohberger's past in Pennsylvania, including a boxing gym owner, a school advisor, and a former professor, have been summoned as witnesses in his upcoming trial for the Idaho student murders.
- These witnesses are expected to provide insights into Kohberger's background and academic pursuits, particularly his master's thesis on criminal behavior, as prosecutors intend to use his DeSales homework as evidence.
- Two other witnesses are Ralph Vecchio and Maggie Sanders. Their connections to the case were not immediately clear.

The upcoming hearing they're having on this is because these witnesses do not want to be 2000 miles from home (all PA residents) for who knows how long.

The YouTubers are at it again. Several are claiming that BK has filed defamation lawsuits (one stating 16 in Adams County Washington, which also makes no sense). I think this is manufactured but I wanted to ask if anyone had any evidence of him filing? TIA
They've taken a mysterious filing, and created a fictional narrative around it. I'm not sure what it is, but it isn't going to be that.
*snorts at those folks*
Three more seconds of work would have gotten the YTubers and the Twitterers the right info:
If you go to the Washington State court filings website and search by Kohberger, you see 17 filings with him as the plaintiff. 14 of them are in Whitman County from June 2, 1 from Whitman County on May 28, and one in Adams County on May 23. All of them are marked "archived--no docket info, cause--miscellaneous."
To me, those are all witness summons, just like the ones we saw for Pennsylvania a few days ago. It appears that these aren't being or aren't likely to be contested by the people being summoned--unlike what is happening in PA. That's why the PA ones have a court date--those 5 ppl are going to come and say why they shouldn't be required to go. If the WA ones aren't being contested, there doesn't need to be a court date put into the docket....just WA creating the warrant/summons and delivering them.
It's possible that they could be subpoenas for deposing them, like with BF, but that seems unlikely for AT to suddenly want to depose 17 ppl at this late date.
Why the separate counties you think? Based on where these people live?
Yup.
Pullman is in Whitman County. Adams is just to the west of Whitman County. It's about 1h 30m drive from Pullman to Adams County. Could be some undergrad student he was TA for who has since graduated and moved, ditto for someone who was in the PhD program, or even a professor who has retired recently.
I really really doubt that you can sue for defamation when you are awaiting your trial for murdering 4 ppl. And even if you could, it feels like that would be mis-use of your court appt public defender.....you know, the one who is soooooooooo busy trying to look through every piece of evidence herself that she's asking for a continuance.
And to show my work, here's screen shots. The name search function gets you the listing of all the filings and their case numbers. Then, choosing the Case search option across the top and putting in the appropriate county and case number) gets you the basic status info.

That would be wonderful as the State would then be able to Cross them. The most interesting to me on that list is the other DeSales Prof. She had nothing but glowing remarks about BK helping him get accepted into the WSU Doctoral Program.Sounds like Guilt Phase

BK worked closely with KR, who made phone contact with the family after BK's arrest - unheard of IMO, especially after BK was charged with such a heinous crime.
Question ...KR is being subpoenaed by the State directly? There is some kind of connection there with BK IMO.

Katherine Ramsland (KR) is not one of the five people summoned by AT who are listed on Pennsylvania’s Commonwealth v. Kohberger 682 MD 2022 page.KR?
Is this the other DeSales Prof?
2 DeSales professors got subpoenas?
Temu is a Chinese company that sells cheap merchandise (and creates obnoxious ads, lol).temu Bundy?
The State's Witness list isn't out, but I think they will have called her (KR). She's the one that has written and co written many books and had a chummy relationship with BK and his parents after he was arrested. (She was born in Ann Arbor btw)KR?

I'm aware KR wasn't one of the five recently summoned by the defense, that's why I wondered if she was already on the State's Witness List, which we don't have.Katherine Ramsland (KR) is not one of the five people summoned by AT who are listed on Pennsylvania’s Commonwealth v. Kohberger 682 MD 2022 page.
Of course, neither is Kohberger’s other DeSales professor, Michelle Bolger, according to this doc (although she may have already agreed to testify and therefore doesn’t need to attend the June 30 hearing in Pennsylvania.)
