Anne Taylor, Kohberger’s top public defender, was assigned Wednesday to head up the defense for Skylar Meade, according to court records obtained by the Idaho Statesman. The Idaho prisoner is charged with killing a Juliaetta man in Nez Perce County after escaping from corrections officers at a hospital in Boise during a shootout in March.

I dont know if its me believing in myths but looking at AT's current DP charges both seem like guaranteed losses to me so i'm wondering if that actually affects the likelihood of anyone actually hiring her? others have said she is proficient and top but if all her cases involve losses how does she get hired?

She was appointed as a Death Penalty Qualified Defense Attorney. BK didn't hire her, the State of ID is paying her salary along with the other 3 Attorneys working on her team.

As @girlhasnoname mentions above, she is amongst a scarce supply of DP attorneys in Idaho and apparently she gets asked to take on DP cases.

I'm going to share something.

I do think BK seems to have a longstanding mental disability. He seems very similar to a family member who is a misfit and certainly tortured mentally, and causes a lot of misery to himself and others, obvious from 1 year old. People don't ask to be born with minds that turn out to be damaged or peculiar. MOO. I still don't want to be anywhere near him, though.

Regardless of the tragedy of a screwed-up mind, BK IMO decided to murder and should be held accountable to the absolute full extent of the law. Unless something amazing comes out at trial, I think he did it, 100%. The lack of remorse is horrifying. A mind bent that way, it's an EXPLANATION, but can't be an EXCUSE.

DP attorneys try to keep their clients off of DR. If AT can get BK to take a plea deal to drop the DP then she did her job well.

She forces the State to prove their case and leaves little to no room for appeals.

ah i might be kind of not differentiating between types of law as well, for instance when it comes to marriage breakups i bet the preference would be to get someone with a track record of wins but for this kinda case its an entirely different ballgame. thanks though everyone, does put it into perspective.

hes gott conditions yes but thats not what im looking at him and thinking. i think its something else that happens as some can get this kinda stressed, warped and negative MH issues. start hating people and develop deep deep and dark issues like stalker kinda vibes. jmo ill give ypou the reasons why he wrote about when his world turned dark but its also some photos you can see it for example
that look isnt normal for someone with his conditions imo.

Two cases are listed for BF, the closed one from April 2023 and the more recent one mentioned by KTVB:

The only difference between the two (besides the dates and status): the prior case type is Material Witness-Criminal, and the present case type is Other Civil Matters.

By the way, here is the page where I registered so I could search (unsuccessfully) for BF’s case.

I see now that “justice courts” are lower-level courts in Nevada (and maybe everywhere).

In Washington, the subpoenas were filed in superior court, but I knew based on my research that subpoenas would likely be filed in district court in Nevada. So who knows how I ended up on a lower-court’s page (although I didn’t know that justice courts are a thing yesterday—I thought it was just the name of the Nevada court website, lol).

The closed April 2023 matter involved a defense subpoena for BF to attend the PH for BK, scheduled to take place in June. The May 16th Indictment superceded the PH and I believe the subpoena became defunct. At the time, BF opposed the out of state subpoena but may have later been voluntarily interviewed by a defense investigator in Nevada, although that is not clear. Jmo

Whatever the defense was fishing for from BF it never amounted to anything imo. They never sought to suppress any BF interviews by LE, unlike DM. Per the D motions to suppress in Dec 2024 with hearings in Jan 2025, BF's potential evidence was of no pressing interest to the defense. Jmo

I have no time to dig up links but the threads from April 2023 have full discussions and links to the docs. I made a few posts about this at the time and also, from memory, earlier this year when it was raised and rehashed in connection with a rumour about a naked man seen by BF on the night of the crime. Moo the rumour arose from a tabloid Daily Mirror report which confused BF with DM in the PCA whilst auto correcting the word masked to naked. This article went on to confuse an affidavit attached to the defense's subpoena for BF's attendance at the cancelled PH in June 2023, with the PCA as misconstrued by the Daily Mirror. Jmo

its that strained, stressed almsot buzzed look people get when their has been serious mental deterioration. i think it ma be when people dont get enough dopamine and serotonin in the system. ive seen it before on people including myself and i can remember vividly taht you just dont enjoy anything anymore. cant chat, laugh with people, you get no benefit from exercise anything really, cant really enjoy the bedroom, you hate evrything. he didnt have that specific look when younger. thats more recent is my guess.

I will watch because I want to honor the families and friends that are coming forward to speak their piece and remember their loved ones.

I do hope though that Amazon looks at the filing and issues resulting from the Dateline episode and does last minute edits if needed to get rid of any info that wasn't already in the public domain. I suspect Amazon has been very careful though, even though the families aren't bound by the gag order as of June 23, 2023, because the family members wouldn't want to jeopardize the case at this point. By contrast, none of the family members were quoted as sources or appeared on camera in interviews on the Dateline special.

Interesting things to see on the latest Case Summary printing (on June 11 at 1:57 pm), including LOTS of new filings dated June 9 that weren’t visible on that day’s the printing. Many are sealed so they don’t show up on the Idaho Cases of Interest page.

Some very interesting things to see. I do wish they were actually listed in a sensible order (like the motion, the motion to seal the motion, the order to seal the motion, the opposing side's response, their motion to seal the response, the order to seal the response) because it is a bit hard to read through and figure out what order things happened in.

Ones I found interesting (all sealed):
--Motion for Independent Analysis of Evidence (defense), State's response to this motion, order granting Defense Expert Analysis of Evidence--at this late date AT is asking for this? Is this related to her alternate suspect that she supposedly stumbled across? Or is it with the goal of fighting against some piece of evidence already cited in court filings?
--Motion for Access and Fair Investigation (defense), motion to seal this motion and to seal Defense objection to Court's Order (all listed in one line, so is the court's order related to the Access/Fair Investigation motion? I'm not seeing a separate listing for an order in response to this motion, but I'm sick of scrolling back and forth across the pages so maybe I'm just missing it?)

No one really cares where BK was between 2:47 and 2:54 am, excepting we all wish he'd turned around and gone back to his apartment and stayed there.

Hyper focusing on where BK was at 2:54 only makes it more obvious that she's provided no alibry for BK for 4:10 to 4:20 am.

More time won't help her.

It's time to try this case.

She probably knows her efforts are futile too, but she chose to be a criminal defense attorney, and is one of the few death penalty qualified attorneys in her area, so she is probably used to futility. I could not do her job, nor would I if I could, but in order for our justice system to work, I am glad that there are people like her. JMO
