wonder if the defense "leaked" this to throw doubt about a different perp in the area

ABC News apparently is the media source of this new information and their reporter mentions that the defense will likely use this unsolved case to suggest that there was another break-in close by (in Pullman) with that suspect wearing a mask and with a knife just one year before the Idaho murders and that he could have been the perpetrator of the Idaho murders.

I wonder whether BK was actually in the area at this time? Do we know when BK first visited the Pullman/Moscow area?

This latest development IMO is not remotely surprising. We obviously don't know if that was him, and we may not find out if it was any time soon, but I've always believed Kohberger was a developing serial killer. There didn't seem to be any robbery motive, no women were sexually assaulted, this wasn't a jealous ex boyfriend or whatever, there didn't seem to be a revenge motive. I got vibes early on that this is something he did for pleasure or gratification or excitement. People like that don't just stop killing and they don't just wake up one day and decide to do it randomly. He likely fantasized about that type of a crime for a while, so I thought he had to have done something else. Maybe not another murder, but a breaking and entering or some type of stalking. And I'm quite confident if he were not arrested, he would have killed in a similar fashion again.

IMO, I don't think that it was the defense that "leaked". There is a true crime YouTuber that was encouraged to get the body cam of this event by a Tik Toker who thinks that Bryan is guilty in the Idaho 4 case.

But I saw this on X from Jennifer C and she has been following the Bryan K. case.

All IMO.

According to the report from Pullman Police No he wasn't in the area during that time and he wasn't visiting WSU as a prospective graduate student either.

And the intruder from the first incident was listed as being quite short for a man: 5'3"-5'5". People may be crap at estimating height (I know I am), but no one is mistaking 6 ft tall BK as being 5'5.

I would certainly be prepared to consider this possibility if the heights weren't so disparate. I think a lot of us believe that BK had been working up to the shocking killings in Moscow for quite some time. I wonder if in this "new" event he has an absolutely watertight alibi, even though it was the other side of the country. The police would have been remiss not to consider it, IMO.

And young people in the area would feel and be much safer if it had been BK. Just how many knife - wielding masked intruders are out there?

So.
A random hot prowler stole a knife sheath from BK and left it at the crimes scene.

These are all AT "what if" scenarios being readied in case of a successful appeal to get the DNA suppressed and getting a new trial minus all the evidence.

Grabbing at straws.

I'm pretty sure this information came from a YouTuber by the name of Plunder ( she uploaded the body cam footage about 4 days ago) and she was encouraged to FIOA or FOIA request the body cam footage. In the Video person of interest Cruz, apartment was search, he was questioned by LE. There are a lot of hours of the body cam footage that this YouTuber has but it's on a different platform. But at the end of the video, LE told Cruz that he was not going to be charged and that the case was closed. But there are problems between that neighbor that called 911 and Cruz. LE asked Cruz were was he during the time at 3:30 am and he claimed that he was with Miguel all time. But when LE spoke to Miguel, Miguel said that wasn't true and said that Cruz and him only hanged out until like 3 AM. I think that LE claimed that Cruz said that he wasn't at home all that night or something like that. Cruz is pretty short but the victims said that the person had a ski mask on and they had hair coming out from under the ski mask.

IMO, I'm guessing that either someone who works at ABC news was scrolling YouTube and saw Plunder's video and then looked into it or someone sent them that video and then ABC news looked into it.

I don't think that this situation from 2021 will help the defense team in BK's case imo. But I'm not a lawyer.

All IMO.

BK's case has lots of Federal Warrants and a Federal Grand Jury which apparently investigated BK thoroughly and failed to indict him. Considering all the warrants, this means there must not have been enough evidence to indict. It also appears the FBI has backed off of BK as being a part of this case. The other thing all this FGJ stuff proves is that this case is not about a wannabe serial killer nor about some one acting on their own. FGJ's DO NOT handle those types of cases.

All JMO.

I can see that as a real possibility. JMO

That is a totally useless defense IMO. Shows they have next to nothing.

Total long shot. Jury isn't going to buy that

Have they established a motive for the murders yet?
The State doesn't have to supply a motive, but I feel sure they will paint the picture during the trial.

I just don't see the defense team using that.

IMO, the defense would never share their defense strategy with Brian Buckmire, an ABC News legal contributor and he is just sharing his theory of what he thinks that the defense will do during the trial. I'm pretty sure based on how AT handled the hearing back in Sept or Aug 2024 (sorry I can't remember which month that was), AT didn't share her defense strategy with Brian Buckmire, an ABC News legal contributor since this guy doesn't have access to all of the discovery like AT does, Mr. Brian Buckmire is just sharing his theory. In addition, the defense team does have their own investigator helping them out. In the past when people have reached out to the defense team for a comment, they usually just response with no comment. All IMO.

I must have missed all the Federal Warrants and the Federal Grand Jury stuff concerning BK.
Could you supply some links or point me in the right direction so I can read up on it all.
Thanks.
