Jane Pickett was busy marrying her high school sweetheart 75 years ago and couldn't make it to her graduation. She never did get the diploma she'd earned from her NY school.
On her 93rd birthday though, Jane's daughter Sharon Mills had a big surprise for mom, who now lives in Burke, Virginia. Sharon had reached out to the school and they'd not only issued an honorary diploma for Jane, they also sent her a graduation sash and other gifts.
It was 1939 when Jane graduated. She's now the proud holder of a High School Diploma - Class of 2014.
