Circumstances of Disappearance
Alan was flying his plane, a blue and white PA-32 with tail number N3705W, from Yakutat to Anchorage and never arrived. Search efforts were all met with negative results.

I don't see any reason to suspect foul play. Seems more likely weather conditions had something to do with it.

Looking at weather records for September of 2013, it appears there was low cloud cover and fog in the area, possibly allowing for a pilot to become disoriented or to lose their way. I'd be interested to know about his flying experience.
