Thanks so much! So, surprisingly, I was close to having the events in order.
For a while it was just kinda scrambled in my mind...

I’m a big timeline person. Drives my husband crazy :-)

Thank You for laying it out better than any news article so far.

Yikes, he has a very disturbed, creepy look in those enlarged photos of him! Yet, he knew how to hide his monster side if you look at pics of him with his wife. I imagine the things he said when he opened his mouth were a tell. I wonder if he talked about women the same way he talks about blacks.

But wait, apparently friends are describing him as meek and lovable, unflappable, never angry! I'm unable to copy and paste from that news site, but read the whole article.
:eek:Meek!

Where'd he get so much money to buy so many technical toys, etc.,? I think they better increase his bail or better yet NO BAIL.

Brian Steven Smith: What we know about the SA-born Alaskan killer

It bothers me that the footage was taken from September 4th to the 6th of 2019. Torture and it must have gone on for days.

Kathleen's body was found 10/2/2019.
Veronica's body was found 10/2/2019, but they had found her skull with a gunshot in April 2019. Smith gave LE the location of where Veronica's body was disposed.

He's not meek! MOO

Im not sure if they ever found Veronicas body. I just know they found a scull in April. When he confessed this past Thursday he told them where he dumped her body and I think it was Friday when they figured out who she was.

His wife went to visit him this past Thursday and all she said to the reporters was that he told her they will never let him out. So she may have only figured out the truth then. It was only Thursday that he confessed to everything- that’s my understanding.

Maybe he wants them to think he’s telling them everything so they don’t dig any deeper.

I’m curious about the truck break in and if it wasn’t done intentionally by someone who knew him. Maybe there was a ransom not paid. Maybe they took it personally when Kathleen disappeared and wanted him caught.

I wonder the same, and am halfway inclined to think they are a hero of sorts (until more comes out about this). But I am curious about what you mean by "ransom not paid".

They did find her body, or really her remains, according to the article. Veronica's skull with a gunshot was found April 2019 of this year.
I'm not sure if they could determine
her identity at that time.

The news article specifically says Veronica's body was found on Oct. 2, 2019 in a secluded area just south of the city. The last time her family had seen her was July 2018.

Do you have a link to the info about his wife going to visit him? I missed that.

Anyone else still curious about some articles mentioning he was "already under investigation" by LE? I really hope they didn't already suspect him of a murder or other serious violent crime. If he was on their radar and able to commit this horrific crime, I hope they review their procedures.

Absolutely! I'm also very concerned that more effort wasn't made to identify Veronica's skull when it was found! Her family was looking for her and there are multiple missing people in Anchorage. The skull wasn't very old and it had a gunshot wound... depending on the location of the wound, it was either definitely foul play or best-case-scenario suicide.

Hoping we get more news and answers today! Justice for Kathleen & Veronica!

Torture video found in Alaska contains vital clue to killing

FILE - In this Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2019, file photo, Brian Steven Smith sits in a courtroom while waiting for his arraignment to start in Anchorage, Alaska. Losing a digital memory card that contained photos and videos of a horrendous killing may have been careless, but what led police to charge Smith was something he had no control over whatsoever: His South African accent. (AP Photo/Mark Thiessen, File

"When a woman found the memory card on the street and turned it over to police, what detectives saw was horrific. At one point, the suspect complained to the victim, whose face was swollen and bloodied: ""My hand's getting tired." He then stomped her throat with his right foot.

Amid the shocking footage, a clue: The killer spoke in an "English sounding accent," and detectives recalled Brian Steven Smith, a 48-year-old South African, from another investigation, the details of which they have not disclosed.

They arrested Smith, who has pleaded not guilty to the September slaying of 30-year-old Kathleen Henry, a homeless Alaska Native woman. During his interrogation, police say he confessed to killing another Alaska Native woman. Police won't say if they think there may be other victims."

If his hands were getting tired from beating a woman to death, did his wife not notice that his hands were bruised and injured?

Does anyone know if the accused perp had visited Canada as a youth?
ETA
Just a possibly far-fetched thought, but thinking of the Woodland rapist, videotaped his attacks and wore underwear that was manufactured in Kenya- yes a long way from SA, but still a lot closer than America.
speculation, fwiw, imo.

"For an 8-year-old Kitchener boy, the terror took place in a park on Aug. 21, 1992, when he was raped by a freckled-face white man with strawberry blond hair tied in a ponytail.

A 10-year-old Brampton boy and a 15-year-old Oakville girl were tied to trees during their assaults in a park in 1994 and 1995, respectively.

But the unkempt predator with the baggy eyes – dubbed the Woodland Rapist because he lured victims into wooded areas- (...)"

The police composite sketch doesn't resemble BSS at all, imo.

It's not being reported yet whether he spent time in other countries. I think he spent time in some military.

Let's refrain from any direct quotes, etc., from these links please, but you might want to read some there. This is the site he shared so much about himself mentioned in the news article quoting his feelings about black people.

I think these are allowable links.

this article seems to have the facts straight-

Torture video in Alaska contains vital clue to killing

How could her family see her in July 2018, but maybe he killed her in 2017? These news articles are just full of inconsistencies.

"Authorities identified the second victim as Veronica Abouchuk, who was 52 years old when her family reported her missing in February. The family last saw her in July 2018, police said."

"Smith told police where he killed Abouchuk in 2017 or 2018 and disposed of the body. It was in an area near where Alaska State Troopers recovered a skull with a bullet wound earlier this year."

I don't know if we can link court records here or even mention them. My apologies in advance if i'm violating the TOS.

So, as per court record, the date of offense for additional charges is:
01/01/2017 - 01/01/2018.

Veronica Abouchuk was last seen by her family in July 2018 and last seen by someone else in October 2018 at Bean's Café. (Please, see attached image. The link is no longer available since the MP was "located".
Deactivated Alert from Anchorage Police Department : Nixle)

This "timeline" makes me wonder if there are more victims of BSS and he just confused Veronica Abouchuk with someone else? Speculation only.

Another thing that has me wondering is why LE asked his wife if she was procuring women for him?

JMO.

Thank You. It's been a real struggle getting an accurate timeline of his crimes. I think we're all waiting to hear if there's more crimes or victims.

How could there be any question in his memory as to which year he killed a woman? Great questions you're asking whether BSS is confusing his victims and perhaps there's other victims. Yes, why would LE ask if his wife was procuring women for him - odd they'd ask her.

I'm full of questions.
How'd he met or run into his victims? Did Kathleen go into that hotel room voluntarily with him? Why didn't anyone report screams or loud noises coming from the hotel room? Veronica was shot in the head which is not the same MO.

Modus operandi, (Latin: “operating method”,) abbreviation MO, in criminology, distinct pattern or manner of working that comes to be associated with a particular criminal.

I was looking for the article about the foldable drone he put up for sale. Help, I'm not savvy on tech toys -- could this be considered a GoPro? I'm pretty sure it has a camera and some memory. Wonder what he used it for and why he wanted to sell it in September.

Brian Steven Smith: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know | Heavy.com

"In September, Smith tried to sell a drone via social media. “Almost new foldable drone. Fits in your pocket. Bought it less than 2 months ago. Wife is complaining that I already have to (sic) many toys. Still have the receipt from Walmart so you get the warranty with it. Paid $110. Selling for $75 just to get rid of it,” he wrote."
“Local pickup only. If you want to negotiate then the price is $100.”

Revisiting some more info.

PICTURED: Alaska murder victim Kathleen Jo Henry whose alleged killer filmed the assault | Daily Mail Online

"It is unknown at this time where and how Henry first came in contact with Smith."

and

"Police are still working to determine whether the woman knew Smith and how she ended up in the hotel room."

Can't get away from this case. MSN had his creepy face sliding past on their news story banner. The news article has a little more added info about Veronica. There's no death penalty in Alaska, so BSS is looking at a mandatory 99 yrs in prison. Guess it's almost a miracle that the memory card was found with enough evidence to nab this guy. It's so odd the way it happened.

Distinctive accent on torture video leads police to suspect

"These were two Alaska Native women," Anchorage Deputy District Attorney Brittany Dunlop told a recent news conference. "And I know that hits home here in Alaska, and we're cognizant of that. We treat them with dignity and respect."

and this is interesting --

"Joanne Sakar and Natasha Gamache had red hands painted across their faces as they held a silent protest to highlight what Gamache called Alaska's history of not properly investigating, prosecuting or sentencing perpetrators of crimes against Alaska Native woman."

"The red hands painted on their faces represents the silencing of indigenous women."

"There's a movement called Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women that seeks to highlight the level of violence that's perpetrated against indigenous women and how nationally our criminal justice system isn't taking it seriously. So, I'm here today to showcase that," she said."
