Anchorage police are asking for information about a woman who hasn’t been heard from by her family in months. Out-of-town relatives of 32-year-old Michelle Tugatuk called APD August 30th, reporting she’d not checked-in since December. She’s believed to be homeless, but hasn’t turned up yet at any local shelters. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 311.

Michelle is listed on Charley Project and Namus. She is 32 years old, black hair, black eyes, 4’11” and 115 lbs. she was reported missing in August 2020, and hasn’t been seen since December 2019.

Panhandling, drinking and loitering are at a breaking point in Midtown Anchorage, businesses say

She was mentioned in a June 2019 article about the homeless. It looks like she was with someone (or a group) at the time. I wonder if they have been questioned about her whereabouts.

Good find. I’ve been looking on NamUS and there’s a lot of native/indigenous listed missing from Anchorage since 2018+. My heart breaks for all these families, the stories seem similar at the surface, the family just never hear from them again :( 10 cases, including Michelle... I hope the families can get answers

Program launched to help Alaska Natives find missing
''ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Three rural Alaska communities have launched a pilot program intended to create more culturally sensitive protocols on how government and law enforcement should respond to cases with missing or slain Alaska Natives.''

''Alaska has one of the highest rates in the U.S. for unsolved cases that involve missing or slain Indigenous women, the Anchorage Daily News reported.''
