Birmingham police are investigating after a decomposed body was found underneath the Carraway Boulevard overpass in North Birmingham Wednesday.

Sgt. Johnny Williams said the death will remain unclassified at this time. Police will wait on the coroner's report to release information about the victim's identity and cause of death.

Williams said he did not want to speculate on the victim's gender or ethnicity at this time.

Williams said a worker at a nearby business discovered the body Wednesday night. The body was found just off the 2500 block of 23rd Court North.
