He was a student at Delta State University in Cleveland, MS., and his body was found hanged from a tree near a pickleball court by the campus. I'm posting this here, because Colin Kaepernick is financing a private autopsy because Trey's parents aren't accepting that his death was a suicide.

The medical examiner and chief of police, who like Trey are both black, have said that there was no evidence of foul play, but the rumor mill is saying there is. I guess time will tell. I do know that suicide by hanging is a very uncommon cause of death for black men, but the incidence is not zero.

Regardless, RIP Trey.

Unfortunately the rumor mill continued even after the family spoke out asking people not to believe the rumors. And some of the people calling it a cover up are going off the report that the grandfather said they were told by the sheriff's office that he was found in his bed while they are saying they never told them that, just that he had been found at school.

There was a case here in Southern California where in live in 2020 that was nearly identical. Young black man hung himself in public and the rumors that he was lynched started right away because the area has a history of white supremacists. People thought there was a cover up until it came out he had a long history of depression and mental health issues. Had been hospitalized a few times and had tried to commit suicide about six months before. The cover up theory was talked about even more when his half brother was shot and killed when he opened fire on deputies trying to pull him over because he was wanted for a variety of crimes

I am so very very sorry for his parents (and relatives).
Was there security footage in the area where he was found?
Sometimes when college students do this, it's due to depression, anxiety, academic pressures, financial pressures. I wonder how he was doing academically and socially. Did he play sports or live in dorms (where bullying may have occured)?
I hope his family will get some additional answers as to what he may have been feeling and experiencing.
