YORK, Ala. (WTOK) - Authorities are asking for your help to find a missing woman in Alabama.

Dorothy Harris is from York. The 66-year-old woman was last seen Feb. 4. She's described as a 5’2 black female with brown eyes and black hair.

York and Livingston Police, along with State Bureau of Investigation Agents were on the scene of a suspicious death Tuesday, March 12 after a woman’s body was found.

York Police Chief Ray McVay said that the owner, of an unoccupied red brick house, found the victim early Tuesday morning around 8:30 a.m. and notified police.

Sumter County Corner Terry Peeler said he proclaimed the victim deceased at 11:05 a.m. and he was still on the scene. He said the victim had been identified but he was waiting on Chief McVay to release the name.

Relatives who posted on facebook Tuesday morning identified the victim as Dorothy Harris of Livingston who has been missing since February 26.
York residents contacted the Record-Journal Tuesday evening, March 5 concerning Harris’ disappearance. She had been missing seven days at that time.
Harris was last seen 15 days ago visiting a friend at York Elderly Apartments located on Highway 11 late Tuesday, Feb. 26.

Chief McVay when asked, if there was any evidence of foul play, said he would wait until a full determination could be made before making a statement.
