Case report:

Evelyn Piper telephoned her daughter on the morning of November 30, 1994 (approximately 9:00 A.M. Piper told her daughter that she was leaving for Jerusalem to get married. Piper's daughter believed her mother was joking because she was not dating anyone.
Piper stated that she would return the following Sunday. Piper's daughter has not seen or heard from her since. Daughter does not know who her mother was planning to marry.
Piper had some type of business holding a jewelry shows. Piper asked her daughter to hold her jewelry shows while she was gone. Her daughter declined because she did not know how to do them. Piper replied that she would make other arrangements.

I didn't find any archived articles at this time for Evelyn. Prayers for her family and loved ones.

Skeletal remains have been found on Sandfort Rd, near Phenix City. Gender not determined yet. The Russell County sheriff said there currently are two missing persons cases open in Russell County, but the body might have been moved there from another location. Just noting here as a possibility.

Phenix City is in Lee and Russell Counties.

What a bizarre case. I wonder if she really was planning on getting married. Maybe she had a secret relationship that the family didn't know about. It doesn't seem like she would have disappeared intentionally so something must have happened. On the Doe Network it states that Evelyn was in the business of holding jewelry shows. Coincidentally, while searching for information I came across a Canadian website Evelyn Piper Jewellery,
One article that mentions Evelyn as well as others missing doesn't really have additional details.
On CP it say there was no evidence she flew out that day. In the article the Detective says, “We don’t believe we could substantiate that,” Jones said. I just don't feel like they are confident that she didn't fly out. I'm assuming there were no security camera's at that time at the airport.
Years pass by in unsolved missing persons cases
Tomorrow on October 18, 2021 Evelyn Piper would have turned 81 years old. She is still missing.

This just reminds me of those "old don juan" guys in the 1990s that were active conning upper middle-aged women who were alone or were widows.

did she join a local cult? the 90's were the time of peak cult activity.. and they often demand complete detachment from one's former life.. rather than telling her daughter as that would likely trigger some kind of intervention attempt.. she simply told her she was leaving the country to get married implying she would be gone for a while so no one would miss her.. she doesn't appear to have flown anywhere and I don't think it was a random kidnapping.. scammers are a pretty good theory too but I don't know how common they were back then.. there are too few details.. too many possibilities.. maybe a personal ad.. deception and scam..
