LOXLEY, Ala. (WKRG) — Loxley Police confirm they’re searching for a missing man believed to have been last seen in the area Saturday. Josh Barber’s dad, Jamie, tells WKRG News 5 his son was scheduled to interview for a job on Monday, but he never made the interview. A missing person’s report was filed early this week.
According to him, Josh moved to Baldwin County last month from north Alabama. He tells us his cell phone has been disconnected and friends and family are worried for his safety after his sudden disappearance.

Josh Barber was staying at a home on Semper Drive east of Spanish Fort, but the home is in Loxley’s jurisdiction. His dad said Josh drives a gray 1999 Chevy Silverado with license plate #6125BJ5. If you have any information please call Loxley Police.

This is only a few minutes from me. Praying he’s found safe! I’ll be happy to help with any searches, will try to follow it in the media for updates.

I wonder if maybe he was having a mental health crisis and just needed time away?

Hoping that he is safe and contacts someone soon, and let’s them know he’s ok.

It looks like there is some concern that he may have had an accident and be located in the woods or a waterway. His family is worried that the transmission on the truck could have locked up because the transfer case had a serious leak. Those words mean nothing to me, because I know nothing about mechanics, but I trust that he (his father) knows what he’s talking about. Depending on what the search efforts turn up (I hope like heck he just shows up), this might be another instance where AWP could be of help

I'm curious about the statement that his cell phone has been disconnected. I assume that means that when you call him, you get a message that the number is no longer in service. I wonder if this has happened before, perhaps for nonpayment, or if he called/went to his cell phone provider and had his plan cancelled.

He had a job interview scheduled and it sounds like he was staying with someone, so it might have been a money thing, hard telling. It surely makes the search process way more difficult. I feel for the family. His dad was asking people traveling between Mobile and Auburn to keep an eye out for signs of his truck. That’s a pretty big stretch.

I always recommend families in this situation try to access the missing persons Google account through another device, such as a laptop, tablet, old phone etc. If their current phone is signed into the same Google account as one of them, they can look up their location data to see where they have been. A phone will still gather/store location data if it is powered on, even if it is out of service. This can give them ideas of places he might frequent, where he was last, etc.

I'm fairly certain this is how Kyle Moorman's family figured out which pond he was at when he disappeared.

Huh? That's quite a distance away. Josh was last seen in Loxley and last phone ping was in Macon County. According to his FB page he's from Valley but lives in Spanish Fort. I wonder if Josh decided to head back to his former hometown to N. AL and something happened along the way.

A sad outcome indeed. I’m glad his family knows now though. From his Facebook, he seemed like a spiritual person. Hope he finds peace ❤️
