Two children that were reported missing with their mother Monday have been found safe, but Investigators with the Selma Police Department are still trying to locate their mother.

Mary Timmons Scott and her two daughters, Alee and Bri, were reported missing by a friend Monday evening.

Lt. Tory Neely with the Selma Police Department said Tuesday morning the two children have been found safe with family in Birmingham, but they are still looking for Scott.

“We are backtracking and talking to the last people that saw her, and we are trying to get cell phone information,” Neely said.

Neely said the department is also trying to make contact with the Scott’s ex-husband, Greg, but so far they have not been able to make contact with him.

“We’re trying to get up with him now. We’ve been contacting their employers and the schools and all of that,” he said.

From Facebook -FAMILY MEMBERS MISSING!
We fear this is a very grave situation and I need everyone’s help.

To all of my friends, please share this, especially those in the ALABAMA and surrounding areas close to Selma, AL.

My cousins‘ name is Mary Timmons Scott. She, and her two girls are missing from Selma, AL under suspicious circumstances. Her children spent the weekend with their dad. We believe that her ex-husband may have lured Mary to the house by telling her that one of the children was sick. She had been in regular contact with her family and friends and made them aware that she was going to check on her children. No one has heard from them since early yesterday morning. The children did not go to school or to the doctor.

Police were subsequently contacted and spoke to husband who was allegedly dishonest with them about his whereabouts and after hanging up, turned his phone off. He did not go to work and no one has seen him and cannot reach him. Mary’s phone has been turned off as well.

The man in the picture is Mary’s ex-husband. His name is Greg Scott, he is a Psychologist, in his 50’s, and drives a Volvo, tag number unknown.

PLEASE SHARE!! If you see them, please call 911 in your local area and have them contact the police in Selma, AL. The picture of the vehicle is Mary’s vehicle, tag number is unknown at this time.

Please also pray for our family and for the safe return of our beloved family members

Oh, this is terrible, moonriverfarm, I am so, so sorry for you and your family. It is such a tragic situation that seems to keep happening so often. Such an awful situation for the children to be left to deal with.

Missing Selma mother found murdered in car trunk; ex-husband committed suicide in Birmingham

Relatives posted on Facebook that the girls had spent the weekend with their father, and felt he may have tried to lure Mary Scott back to the home by telling her that one of the children was sick. "She had been in regular contact with her family and friends and made them aware that she was going to check on her children,'' according to one relative's post.

Birmingham police discovered Greg Scott dead shortly before 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 8500 block of Zion City Road in front of Earnest Johnson Funeral home. By noon, authorities had found Mary Scott dead from a gunshot wound to the head. She was found in the area of Dallas County Road 540, less than a half mile from the family's home.

Collier said it appears Mary Scott was killed at the home, and her body then driven into the wooded area where she was found, which was about 500 to 600 yards away from the house.

From the air, he said, investigators could clearly see the path Greg Scott took to take the body into the woods. They believe he drove the vehicle out there, and then walked back home.

Collier said the couple was divorced but had been battling over custody of the children. They currently had joint custody, with the children living with their mother.

After both were found dead Tuesday, investigators learned Greg Scott on Monday had filed paperwork with his lawyer giving custody of their two daughters to his sister in Birmingham. He also tried to have his life insurance beneficiary changed. He worked at the Cahaba Mental Health Center in Selma.

Mary Scott also leaves behind a 15-year-old son who lives with his father in Birmingham. The two daughters are in the care of Greg Scott's sister.
