53-year-old Childersburg man missing, last seen leaving work

The Childersburg Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in locating a missing person. Robert Doran Toney has not been seen or heard from since leaving work from Nippon Oil in Childersburg on Friday, October 11, at around 2 P.M.

Toney, 53 was last seen driving a silver 2014 Nissan Versa 4DR vehicle, tag # 61BF571.

Sadly our search for Mr. Robert Doran Toney ended under unfortunate circumstances. Mr.Toney was found deceased in his vehicle this morning. No foul play is suspected.

“Murphy said Toney and his vehicle were located around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday on Donahoo Lane in Sylacauga, which is less than a mile from Toney’s home.

Murphy said the 2014 Nissan Versa that Toney was driving left the roadway, hit a tree and was found off an embankment in a wooded area.

’Although he struck a tree, it appears his death was from natural causes,’ Murphy said. ’No foul play is suspected.’
