Steven Garrett Todhunter, 25, allegedly abused the child in this manner multiple times over a year. The incidents took place beginning May 1, 2017, and police arrested Todhunter on Saturday.

"On numerous occasions Steven G. Todhunter placed the victim in the washing machine or dryer. When the victim was placed in the dryer, Steven G. Todhunter would close and secure the door with a chair, and sometimes turn the dryer on," the warrant states.

Todhunter is also facing felony domestic violence and strangulation charges. He choked a woman until she became unconscious, the warrant alleges. This occurred during the same time-frame as the alleged abuse.

Todhunter left the Shelby County Jail on Sunday after posting a $20,000 bond. His court date is scheduled for February.
