I don't understand the delay in reporting missing people. Did the brother live with him? Sound it have been normal not to see or hear from him for several days?

I wonder why he is off his medication - this seems to be a trait through a lot of missing people.

I wonder if it's a cost thing. So many insurances are narrowing down every they will and wont pay for. Maybe he couldn't afford the medication?

A lot of the times, those medications make a person exhausted or to them, not feel right. They truly believe that they are ok and that they don't need it. It's very sad, as it ends up hurting them more in the long run when they start and stop taking it several times.

How very sad, I hope he is found safe soon. My thoughts go out to the family. Right now, it may have taken a couple of days to report because he may have taken off before and been found at an old friends house or a favorite place he might have frequented in the past. I'd rather wait for more details than get suspicious of anyone right now.

This very well could be. I had a friend who is schizophrenic. She was constantly taking herself off of her medications. She would disappear for a day or two without a word or a trace of her. One time, she took off with her psychiatrist (I have no good words for him) and was gone for a couple of months, they ended up in Texas on the other side of the country. Went by motorcycle.. This was before the days of internet and cell phones, back in the 70's. She did some odd things when we'd hang out, I was constantly trying to keep her from doing impulsive things, like taking off with a stranger to go to the store for cigarettes, etc!

We also have to remember something- years ago, family got a little more support and reprieve from these situations with their loved ones, when more mental hospitals were open. Today, families are expected to take care of their loved ones at home with no help or support. People have to work to provide a roof over their heads, eat, pay bills. They can't always stay home 24/7 and monitor their loved ones. Many times, they are fine and don't even give you an inkling that they're going to take off. Then you come home from work, and they are gone, without a note or text or phone call.

This is so true! The cost of medications is ridiculous! I could see this happening, too.

Although it's personal, it would be helpful if we knew what sort of traumatic brain injury he had. Does he have short term memory loss issues? Was it something that effected him physically; his ability to walk or have normal control of his body/muscles? Did it effect his personality? Is he developmentally disabled? Was his speech or ability to communicate affected? Did he have a caregiver/live with family or did he have the ability to live on his own (hence the delay in reporting, perhaps?)

Thanks, I am in the UK so do not know that much about about Insurance Companies and the cost of meds. We have different "bands" for how much you pay, with children and the old free. I have an under functioning thyroid so all my meds are without charge, as this is considered "life threatening".
