''BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - There is new information on the death of Ricky Hamrick. You may recall Hamrick was gunned down in front of his 8-year-old girl back in July 2022.
Crime Stoppers is offering $20,000 for information that leads to an arrest, but that number could be climbing thanks to Ricky’s grandfather.
“He said that he would really want to know before his last day, what happened to Ricky and who did it. So he is offering up money out of his pocket,” said Metro Alabama Crime Stoppers Executive Director Bob Copus.
Bessemer Police will accept any and all tips, but they believe information on the location or history of the murderer’s vehicle could be critical in their investigation.''
“We are looking for some specific information about a vehicle that was not only used that day for this homicide, but for similar robberies in the area. It is an early 2000 Toyota Avalon. It is maroon or burgundy in color and it is a four door. What makes this vehicle really unique is that it has a black front passenger door,” said Bessemer Police Detective Justin Burmeister.
The car may have been painted or look different now, but any information you have on it could be the missing piece of the puzzle. It could also go a long way in helping investigators give the family justice.''

''The New York Post reported the deceased, Ricky Howard Hamrick III, was on a father-daughter road trip from Cleburne County to Bessemer and the two were planning on ending that day by eating at Whataburger.
Police told AL.Com that Hamrick had also arranged to sell two guns on Facebook Marketplace but when he arrived for the transaction outside a Salvation Army, he was fatally shot in the head while sitting in his sedan with his daughter next to him in the passenger seat.
“No provocation led to this shooting. We’re talking about lowdown, dirty rotten cowards,” said Lt. Christian Clemons to AL.com.
Bystander Kelli Brown rushed to help the screaming girl who was covered in blood and didn’t want to leave her father’s side.''
“She was saying, ‘They shot my daddy, I don’t want my daddy to die. I couldn’t do nothing but hold her. It was horrible. I could not believe they actually did that in front of that baby. Even killing him — it’s just senseless.”
“It breaks your heart, it saddens you, because this girl can’t un-see what she has seen,” Major Robert Lyle of the Central Alabama Salvation Army told the TV station.'
