Police 'very concerned' for senior missing from Toronto's west end | CBC News
Toronto police are looking for senior with dementia who went missing Thursday night in the city's west end and have escalated their search to the highest level.

Alber Marbena, 74, a Peel Region resident, was last seen at about 9:30 p.m. in the Humberline Drive and Finch Avenue West area. Police believe he is either travelling on foot or by public transit and say they are "very concerned" for his safety, Toronto Police Sgt. Andrew Higgins said.

Marbena's son, Angelo Zea, told reporters at a command post set up in the area Friday evening that his father suffers from Alzheimer's and has been found in the area before.

'It's my dad'
This time, no one was home when he ventured out, he said.

"It's pretty hard, of course. It's my dad," said Zea, asking for anyone who spots Marbena to please come forward."

"Marbena is described as 5'7" with a medium build, balding with a white mustache, brown eyes and brown glasses. He was last seen wearing a black leather jacket , black pants and hat, and red and white Converse running shoes."

"In a tweet Friday evening, Toronto police said Marbena had been seen on home security video just before 4 p.m. in the Kipling Avenue and Westhumber Boulevard area."

"On Friday, police said that Marbena was seen on home security video in the area of Kipling Avenue and Westhumber Boulevard around 3:50 p.m. They are asking residents and businesses in the area to check their properties and their security footage."
Toronto police said on social media that “specialized resources” are being used in the search.

“This is now a level 3 search,” police said on Twitter. “We will also be deploying a grey drone aircraft in the search.”

In a news release issued Friday afternoon, Toronto police said that Marbena is familiar with Toronto’s transit system and that officers are concerned for his safety.

“It’s been over 24 hours since anyone has seen him” Toronto police Sgt. Andrew Higgins said. “He isn’t on any medication, but given his age and length he’s been out and temperatures, very concerned for his safety and well-being.”

An extreme cold weather alert was issued for the City of Toronto on Thursday, with the temperatures feeling like -23 with the wind chill overnight."
