Andrew was last seen in Louisville, Kentucky on October 28, 2010. He was a student at Sullivan University. After his roommate and family had not heard from him for a few days, they reported him missing.
Police learned that Andrew may have met up with 40-year-old Gregory O'Brien, whom he had met online. Dorm security footage showed Andrew leaving, but he did not have a bag or anything indicating he would not be returning that evening. O'Brien stated that he had indeed picked up Andrew from his dorm that day. He stated that he became too drunk to drive Andrew back home, and Andrew left on foot that night.
O'Brien later admitted that Andrew died while at his home. He stated that he thought Andrew's neck snapped while they were having sex, so he panicked and put the boy's body inside a tv box, and threw it in the dumpster. However, blood was found in the home. Child pornography was also discovered on O'Brien's computer.
Extensive landfill searches failed to turn up Andrew's body.
