Circumstances of Disappearance​

Andzelika was last seen by her aunt after going to play in the yard outside her building on Mickiewicza in Kolo on Friday, January 31, 1997. Andzelika was possibly seen by a neighbor at the intersection of Kajki and Pulaskiego at 3pm that day. Foul play is suspected.

The mysterious disappearance of 10-year-old Angelika. Was she kidnapped ?​

"I believe that my niece is alive somewhere and will be found. I will not know peace until this happens " Izabela Jankowska (46), aunt of Angelika Rutkowska from Koło, who disappeared 21 years ago, tells Fakt.

On January 31, 1997, Angelika, then 10 years old, was at her grandparents' house. For a while, she went to her mother's house next door, where she played with her sister.

"About 15, she was seen by a neighbor returning from work, to whom she told that she was going for a walk. Since then, Angelika has been missing" says the girl's aunt.

Two weeks after the disappearance, the 10-year-old was seen at the railway station in Włocławek. But there were no further traces and the case was closed after three months.
This does not give peace to Angelica's loved ones, which is why they have been looking for her on their own for 21 years.

"We used the services of several clairvoyants. They claimed she had been kidnapped. We also suspect that this could have happened "says Mrs. Izabela. " I was recently contacted by a woman who confessed that she was almost kidnapped as a child. This happened two weeks after Angelica disappeared. Three years after her disappearance, also in our area, someone kidnapped a girl, but fortunately she managed to escape " adds Mrs. Jankowska, who continues to provide investigators with various clues.

At the beginning of 2020, police officers from the Krakow X-Files prepared an analysis which shows that Angelika is dead and third parties may be behind her disappearance. The 10-year-old girl was allegedly pushed into the river by her 13-year-old friend. The family demanded an investigation into the murder of the 10-year-old girl. The District Prosecutor's Office in Koło refused. Angelika's mother filed a complaint against the prosecutor's decision. The case was brought to the District Court in Konin.

"The court asked the Kolo police to provide doculents from the period of searching for Angelica. This is as much as 800 pages of information. The police didn't do it. This is incomprehensible to me. This is about a missing child. Maybe these documents would help solve Andzelika's case" said Mrs. Izabela two years ago.

As Marek Ziółkowski, spokesman for the District Court in Konin, pointed out, the police did not provide these documents, citing the order of the Police Commander in Chief of January 3, 2019.

Mariusz Ciarka from the Police Headquarters then explained that the search for missing persons is a form of operational work, which is why these materials could not be made available.

The District Court in Konin ultimately upheld the prosecutor's decision to discontinue the investigation.

Andżelika's relatives hope that the reward will open the mouths of people who have information about the missing girl.

Andżelika's relatives still believe that she will return home. Her mother Agata broke down after her daughter's disappearance. With each year that passes without her beloved child, her hope seems to fade. " She doesn't have the strength for it anymore. I think she gave up a little. But she knows everything I'm doing and she knows that I won't stop until I get this matter resolved " says Izabela Jankowska to "Fakt"

Unfortunately, the girl's aunt also feels helpless at times. "I've been bouncing off the walls for years. The police don't want to help us. They assumed that Andżelika drowned in the Warta River, which flows near the house. They were so confident. Meanwhile, she was afraid of water and I know that she would not enter it voluntarily " says Jankowska.
