I searched to see if this had already been posted but didn't find anything. This past week on Tracker, Websleuths was mentioned. A missing person's friend told Colter (the tracker) that WS and a few other sites were frequented by the missing person. That led Colter to a couple of sleuthers who were really into true crime. Some people discussing the show on Reddit seem to think there's some movement for them to get the show. (The show is based on the Jeffery Deaver book, The Never Game, which is the first of a series involving tracker Colter Shaw.)

Here's the episode description:

When a crime scene cleaner disappears, Colter discovers her fascination with true crime, which may have led her into dangerous territory; Colter uncovers a group of amateur sleuths whose hunt for a killer puts everyone at risk.
Show: Tracker
Air date: November 23, 2025

Is it just me or does anyone else get a bit of an Andrea Knabel vibe about this plot. I know it’s fiction and that it is not an exact match between the fictional plot and the real life tragedy/mystery…but it just made with think about Andrea.

I watched Tracker last Sunday. I loved the episode storyline and particularly the reference to Websleuths a good True Crime source.

ALRIGHT. I'M SO EXCITED.

It is good to know that information we dig up and pass on to investigators is actually being considered and that we're not wasting our time. And it's good to know that they're still working on the case. Here's one response I received back from a Wisconsin detective working on a Wisconsin cold case murder from the early 1980's:

Thank you for passing along this information.

Most of this is information that investigators have been aware of. I say that not to be critical, or flippant, but to reassure that this information has been considered in this investigation. The “xxxxx xxx” is ringing a bell, but I am not remembering where I heard that, or where it fit in with our investigation. I know from the outside it may seem like investigators have not acted on much of this information. I’ll just say a lot happens that people are not aware of, which I get you understand.

Ultimately, we are still hopeful that the suspect(s) left their DNA on evidence. We continue to invest a lot of time and research looking into this. We have evidence out right now at a private lab looking into this, and we hope advancements will help find any DNA left there by the suspects.

It is interesting to get the perspective of people outside this investigation. Especially people that have invested time, and aren’t just being critical.
