Marshals offering $5,000 reward for info on Camden double-murder suspect

The United States Department of Justice, through its U.S. Marshals Service, is now offering a $5,000 reward for information on a Camden double-murder suspect who has eluded authorities for more than a month.


John Jory Worthen, 23, of Bearden is accused of killing his former girlfriend, Alyssa Renee’ Cannon, 20, and her son, Marshall Braydon Ray Ponder, 4. Their bodies were found June 25 at Cannon’s home in the 1300 block of Ronald Drive in Camden.Worthen is wanted on two counts of capital murder.

There has been one arrest for hindering apprehension, I will go find the link. I think this is terrible in a small town like this that no one seems to really care about what happened to Alyssa and Braydon. I am hoping that with the US Marshals Service being involved, Jory will be found.

CAMDEN, Ark. (KATV) — One man is behind bars in relation to the search for a Camden double homicide suspect.

An anonymous tip led police to interview Montez Charles-Xavier Woods, 22, who now faces charges of hindering apprehension or prosecution.

It has been about six weeks since Alyssa and Braydon were found. I can't believe that Worthen hasn't been found yet. I think there are others out there like Woods that have helped him, because he (Worthen) doesn't seem like a long term planner. However, six weeks out, he is still one step ahead of LE.

Search is focused on Western U.S. and Canada
Fort Smith, AR – The U.S. Marshals are searching for a man suspected of killing his girlfriend and her 4-year-old son in Arkansas. Jory John Worthen, 23, of Bearden, Arkansas, is wanted on two counts of capital murder.

On June 25, the bodies of Worthen’s girlfriend, Alyssa Renee’ Cannon, 20, and her son Marshall Braydon Ray Ponder, 4, were found at Cannon’s home on Ronald Drive in Camden, Arkansas.

Worthen has not been seen since June 22, and the Marshals have information leading them to focus their search in the Western U.S. and Canada.

Worthen is 6 feet, 2 inches tall, weighs 157 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes. He has multiple tattoos: on the underside of both forearms, one saying “Matthew 7-6” on his right forearm; on his right hand; on his chest, including one of a skull with wings; and barbed wire on his left bicep. I am sorry I have been MIA. I had been really sick for the last two weeks.

I wanted to let everyone know, I have met Alyssa's mom. She is the sweetest person I have ever met.

We didn't discuss this tragedy much. I just wanted her to know she isn't alone.

The car has been found in Seattle, with no plates. Later I will post the link. I guess his long term planning was better than I gave him credit for.

Please don't forget Alyssa and Braydon, and their famlies. They could use our good thoughts.

He was taken into custody by the US Marshalls as he left a motel. He gave a short foot chase in which he was injured. He was taken to the hospital and then to the LA County Jail. He has been hiding in the Burbank area for approximately five months.

I believe Tricia will be covering this during the mid-day show today.

Jory John Worthen, a double murder suspect in Ouachita County, has been apprehended in Burbank, CA.

Worthen, 25, was taken into custody Monday by U.S. Marshals after a brief foot pursuit. He is charged with two counts of capital murder in the June 23, 2019 deaths of his girlfriend, Alyssa Cannon, 20, and her son, Braydon Ponder, age 4, in her home at 1338 Ronald Drive in Camden.

Immediately after the murders, Worthen fled in Cannon’s vehicle, which was later found abandoned in a parking lot in Seattle. The Western Arkansas U.S. Marshals Task Force was brought into the investigation to assist with apprehension since Worthen had crossed state lines and was believed to be armed and dangerous.

The investigative efforts by all agencies involved with Worthen led them to a hotel in Burbank on Monday evening. After being identified by law enforcement, Worthen ran from U.S. Marshals and local law enforcement, but was found and taken into custody.
