Gill and Jennifer Brazeale said their son Tripp was being chased by St. Francis County deputies along 409 when his four-wheeler died. They said he climbed over a fence and ran into the woods.

“He was on county road on a four-wheeler riding. They shouldn’t have been messing with him at all, but that is just Arkansas state law. You can’t ride an ATV on the road,” said Gill Brazeale.

Were the police the ones who told the parents what had happened with him running into the woods, etc, or did he have some battery left and was able to communicate this to them….Hmmmm
His mother states she received a call from him, and when she arrived at the location they were supposed to meet, he wasn't there. And was never heard from again.

This is absolutely horrible, the article was updated a short time ago.

UPDATE: According to the St. Francis Sheriff’s Office, the body of Tripp Brazeale was found late this afternoon. The sheriff’s office said the 14-year-old had taken his own life.

Why? :( :( :(

Are the folks at the Sheriff's Office sure it was a suicide? What was the manner of death?
He was only 14 years old. How very, very sad.

He ran and left his four-wheeler behind, so he didn't have that to crash or drive off a cliff.

How and with what was he able to commit suicide?

We know what the Sheriff's office is saying re MOD. I wonder what the coroner/ ME might have to say.

Usually LE will just say the "death was suspicious". For them to openly state it was suicide it was likely something obvious, but they can't legally call it, only the medical examiner can (and hopefully they'll do a tox screen as well). A nightmare for his parents, no matter what the cause.

None of this makes sense to me.

Not to me either. Normal people and teens, when being asked to pull over by police, comply. They don't keep going, then abandon their vehicle and run away from law enforcement. Especially at night.

Why was he riding an ATV on a road at night? Alone? It is definitely an illegal activity. At 1:00 am? That is past curfew as well for children. Very odd.

I'm giving LE serious side-eye right now. I feel like this is a scandal just waiting to burst open. What REALLY happened to Tripp?

“If he’s fine, I need to know that he’s alive. If he’s alive, he can deal with his own problems until I get my head wrapped around it,” Gill said. “His mom doesn’t deserve this, and the people looking for him don’t deserve this.”

From WREG.com article quoted in above messages.
Quote from Tripp’s dad while they were searching for him.

This is strange wording quoted from his dad. Makes me think Tripp may have suffered from substance abuse or been under the influence/ wasn’t of sound mind because of mental health issues. I wonder if dad was concerned that he would take his own life- it almost sounds that way to me. Like dad was worried that he wasn’t alive.
I wonder if there was an altercation at home before he took off on the ATV so late at night? He may have had a handgun with him. All IMHO

Well said - that's why I hope they do a tox screen. I'm afraid there may have been substance abuse (and if so, who was supplying him?) and/or mental health issues (unfortunately, use of even recreational drugs can impact a developing brain and there's numerous studies even limited use of marijuana at that age can lead to increased risk of suicide). Recreational Cannabis Use By Teens Linked to Risk of Depression, Suicidality I have teen grandchildren in a state where marijuana is legal (for adults), and we've had pretty frank discussions about this. NOT saying this young man was using - but it's a possibility that might explain the behavior.

I think his parents may know more, but I don't blame them one bit for not wanting to open that all up to public scrutiny. As a mom and grandmother my heart goes out to them.

Yeah the dad’s statement was odd. But, I haven’t seen anyone mention his mom’s statement regarding her thoughts of events. IMO I couldn’t tell if she was trying to convince herself or the police.
