Hello,

This is my first official post on this website, so please bare with me. Like most of you (I am sure), I occasionally found myself on the NCMIC website late one evening when I came across these two separate profiles of two unidentified females. I couldn't help but to notice several strange similarities between the two profiles, and I honestly wanted a second opinion. Both girls were located in the same city and state within just a few years of one another. Both girls look strikingly similar (in my opinion, at least. They really do look like sisters. I can't get over their little button noses). Both girls had fillings in their teeth, indicating that they both had access to dental care. That fact wasn't too crazy to me, seeing as a lot of people probably have fillings. Now, here's the real kicker. BOTH profiles mention Osteoarthritic changes in their hips!!!!!! What are the odds of that!? I'm not crazy...right?! Can someone else please look at these profiles and tell me if i'm wildly out of line in my thought process haha? I am going to attempt to attach their pictures in this post, as well as links to their NCMIC profiles.

My first thought is these girls both had a handicap that would have allowed their caregiver to collect Social Services monthly checks. Doesn't say whether they were murdered or not though.

Here is an article re a starvation death of a spina bifida child in the same area. The only one old enough to be a part of something that happened in the 1980s would be James Graham at 70 years old.

Their Doe Network pages state that they both have DNA available for comparison, most likely through CODIS. I bet CODIS would've alerted authorities if these two girls were related. IMO it's more likely they just share a facial resemblance and injuries.

The Jane Doe found in 1983 is rumored to have been named Carolyn. In 1994, a prisoner named Ricky Ross confessed to killing her.

Whenever I see back inhury and petite brunette I think of Julie Weflen. A long shot.

The seem to have been close in age and both found along a canal bank.

From the information in the links, it appears they would have been killed (and likely to have gone missing) years apart: One in 1982 or 83 and the other 1985-86.

1983 dec after sept 1982 but before being found in Sept 1983
11-19 1964-1972
14-15 likely 1968-69
Cause of Death: Homicide by strangulation

1988 Jan 19
14-25 1963-1974
Estimated Date of Death: 1985 to middle of 1986
Cause of Death: Homicide

Both being so young, both still unidentified, and found under such similar circumstances a few years apart. So I'm going to speculate that they were murdered by the same person and there is something that links them, even if not DNA. (For example, maybe they both lived at the same group home.) JMO.

Apologies for my ignorance here - does CODIS run unidentified persons' DNA against other unidentified persons' DNA? Are they in the same database as known persons?

I was wondering that exact same thing! I know they have their DNA… but I didn’t know if they would run it against other doe victims? I also wasn’t sure if they would get a hit on a relative? Or if they were just keeping their DNA to compare it to a sample once they thought they had one.

I highly doubt the cases are related, or that either girl was seriously disabled. Spina bifida occulta is usually asymptomatic and extremely common, this source is saying that up to 20% of the population may have it but most people are unaware of it.
The for the 1983 Doe, the one with spina bifida, the arthritic injury to her hip was probably caused by some sort of trauma. For the 1988 Doe, it either an injury or repetitive activity (something like horseback riding could cause the arthritic changes to her hips and pelvis).

They do look rather similar, but given that both sets of remains were skeletal, I wouldn't put too much weight on the shape of their noses. We also have a confession for the 1983 Doe, so unless it was a false confession I feel like that rules out the two cases being connected.
